COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
One third of the wort used to make this splendid stout came from each of three North Carolina Breweries: Olde Hickory Brewery, The Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery, and Foothills Brewing.

These were combined and aged in very rare 23 year old bourbon barrels. Olde Rabbitís Foot Imperial Stout is rich and complex; as satisfying to drink as it was to make. We three craft brewers hope you will enjoy the very special Stout as much as we have.

Brewed with honey and with cocoa nibs added and aged in 23 year old Pappy Van Winkle barrels.

Cheers! - Jamie, Paul & Steven

2009 version brewed at Olde Hickory, later versions at Foothills.

Pours a dark black with a tan head of foam. Aroma is boozy with notes of graham crackers, and chocolate. Taste is sweet and a bit hot at the end. Very tasty stuff.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2013 22 oz. bottle, sent from Pabobcat (thanks a lot, David), pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is very complex, with moderate bourbon, cocoa nibs, an vanilla - the bourbon quality is what amplifies the complexity. Flavour is extremely complex, with lush, deep bourbon barrels from the Pappy Van Winkle barrels, cocoa nibs, a touch of vanilla, an low-to-moderate sweetness. Quite rich and deep, with extremely high complexity. Fairly medium bodied for a big BA impie stout, though very full flavoured - could use some more body but that is a very minor complaint. Really reminds of Goose Island Rare BCS, as thatís the only other Pappy barrel stout Iíve had thus far, though this one isnít as complex. A most fantastic, highly complex sipper.

Bomber via Lubiere (merciful), shared with Mike et al, cool, tulip. Very deep brown with a so-so mocha head. Huge chocolate, molasses, licorice, vanilla, some bourbon and wood character, inky, thick and ricb, kinda fruity, so big, a little alcohol. Medium-full body with fine effervescence. Quite a bit of bourbon and wood, molasses, tons of chocolate, licorice and molasses notes, some booze, really thick and rich; sweet with decent bitterness, a fair bit of warm, almost stinging alcohol and a long, molasses, slightly briney finish.

Very very well balanced. Little to no head. Aroma is hypnotizing and the bourbon flavor will age well. I've got 2 that I'm gonna save for a few years. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Incredible changing aroma and thin black pour lead to a complex taste with almost fruit tones that melts into a lingering and pleasant mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

65cl, Vintage 2011 (brewed at Foothills Brewing), exclusive American collab. brew, with honey, thx to Secret Santa!, complex Stout, roasted/sweet and slightly alcoholic/fruity, not to heavy, balanced, hazy, small head, very good brew, yet very expensive!

So far in my ale journeys, the 2010 edition of ORF has been the perfect brew. This tasted like it was the best of the imperial stouts that Foothils, Olde Hickory, & Duck Rabbit had to offer in a perfect blend. I was able to enjoy it in bottles and on draft, and to be honest, I couldnít make a distinction between draft & bottle form as to which was better (and thatís uncommon). The bourbon comes through just right in both aroma and flavor. This was one of the 1st BBA brews that I had, and it has been the benchmark for the many that Iíve enjoyed since. I canít wait to partake in the 2012 edition!

A-- Poured black. Just slight bits of red tint at the top of the beer. One finger light brown head that quickly fell to film and then disappeared. Just a small bit of lacking. S-- Good nose. Bourbon, oak, Carmel, Vanilla, Chocolate and some earthy hops. Really nice staying power of the nose. Maybe best part of this beer. T-- Bourbon, Vanilla, Chocolate and more earthy hops. Good taste to this. M-- Slick and oily. Body is a bit thin but quite good. Not as good as taste and nose are. Spot on carbonation and feel to this. Really felt the barrel added a lot to the base beer. O-- Not as good as BCS rare but a good substitute. Well hidden alcohol and a lot of flavor to this. Only real failing is the body, as a bit thin I thought. Still a good BA beer and if can not get BCS Rare a very good substitute with the PVW barrel.

Bottle shared by bmanning and another by Lunch. Thanks Ben & Paul! A: This collaborative effort appears a rich, dark brown, nearing black. There is about an eighth inch of beige head that leaves random traces of lacing about the glass. S: The aroma is bold, with scents of bourbon and roasted malt. No surprises here. T: The flavor is the best aspect of the beer, as it should be. Olde Hickory, Duck-Rabbit, and Foothills play well together. Everything comes together nicely, with roasted malt and bourbon flavors bold, yet balanced. The barrel presence is very strong and forward throughout. Complex and tasty. M: The feel is medium bodied, with a slight sweetness and alcohol presence throughout. D: I would definitely have this again. Tasty stuff. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 12-20-2010
