22 oz. bottle shared by pantanap- thanks again, Kan! Kan crossed off a long-time want with this one. Pours an opaque dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of chocolate malts, earth, smoked wood, and toasted brown sugar. Flavor of chocolate and caramel malts, earth, coffee, wood, and some dark fruits (berries and plums). Finishes with a cigarette taste. Medium-bodied, with an earthy mouthfeel and low carbonation. Pretty unique beer.

3/31/11. Bomber courtesy emacgee! Black pour with a big brown head that sticks and laces quite a bit. Complex aroma of dark fruits, molasses, dark malts, and chocolate, with that certain hint of sour stout. Big chocolate flavor again with a dash of sour paired with a finish of dry coffee, molasses, and dark fruits. Quite nice!

In short: A corpulent, roasted, chocolaty and surprisingly drinkable big black beer
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed when almost 1 year after the bottle release (first bottle release mid-aug 2010). Bottle sent to me by changeup45, thanks a lot Gary
The look: Near black (very near black) body topped by a small tan head
In long: Nose is mostly chocolate pudding, Fig Newtons™ and some roast. Taste follows in the same direction, cocoa powder, burnt fruit cake, chocolate fudge, a lot of residual sugars, dates, figs, crunchy pie crust, molasses, dark caramel. Very roasted, even to the point of being a bit chalky. A surprising hop presence in the finish that really felt like green hops pellet trying counterbalance the massive sweetness. I was surprised at how easy to drink this beer was, before I knew it my bomber was gone, so the beer gets bonus points for drinkability. A pretty damn good beer from the great state of North-Carolina, which reminds me we haven’t heard about the state of South-Carolina for a long time, I wonder what these sneaky bastards are up to.
