Bottle. Pours a near clear dark brown with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has roasted malts and creamy dark grains with a bourbon backing. Flavor is smooth with roasted malts and dark grains and just a touch of chocolate and bourbon.

Very nice, caramel, bourbon, vanilla, oak, it is a pleasantly barrel-aged beer with a surprising abv.

Beer 49 Asheville trip. Poured black. Aroma of chocolate, some booze, vanilla. Flavor was a match, definite wood note. Not as balanced as I would have liked, but not bad. Preferred the non-barrel version though.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2013 creamy, lightly bitter, little fruity, long finish, Takes a while for the flavor to hit. Then after 3 seconds or so it hits hard and nice. Then lingers for a good 8 seconds after that, changing as it goes. Very intriguing tastes.

A: Chocolate, alcohol, oak, caramel, bourbon with hints of toffee and molasses, sadly that is at good as it gets. P: Dark with a bubbly brown head and I notice that in the bottom of my snifer there is also carbonation going up, I dont usually see that in in BA brews. T: Very light characteristics of chocolate, bourbon, hints of vanilla, metallic notes and minerals. M: Crispy kind of like a lager with an alcohol sting towards the end. O: this was actually pretty easy to drink but the flavors sucked, I felt at times like if this was an oak aged dark lager or something.

Bottle from Sam’s quik shop - pours pitch with a thin head, some lacing on the glass. Aroma is big vanilla bourbon, with more subtle chocolate notes. Taste is sweetish, boozy finish. Overall, yum.
