Peopleís Porter aged in 20 year old bourbon barrels. this gold medal winning robust porter has a dark, ruby hue, and complex chocolate, caramel, and toffee notes. The bourbon barrels add a vanilla, bourbon character that is unmistakable. We hope you enjoy.

Aroma is surprisingly nice with balanced coffee, dark fruit, vanilla and oak. There is also some much chocolate notes from the malt and almond from the barrels. The beer smells nice, but I can't help but wonder if it is a bit infected - time to taste it. This bad boy was very carbonated but didn't gush at all, just a huge pop. Pours dark brown but not quite black with a huge, thick light tab head. The head steadily recedes leaving quite a bit of "lacing". Flavor is sweet with nice coffee and chocolate malt flavors. These malt flavors are complimented by dark fruit and barrel character. The barrel adds quite a bit of oak, vanilla and a hint of almonds but not much actual bourbon. There is a hint of dark fruit acidity which is likely coming from a low level infection but it compliments rather than distracts; that being said, I wouldn't age this for a lifetime. Medium low bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium to medium low bodied with a medium high carbonation. Astringency is low but present with a light alcohol warmth. Overall this is a very nice beer even though I do think there is a hint of infection showing. The barrel character is very nice though as is the malt notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ Mattís house. Pours a deep brown appearance with a brown head. Chocolate, light caramel, a bit fruity, vinous, berry aroma. A bit thin body. Fruity, tangy, light whiskey, dark chocolate, wet woody, roasty malty flavor. Disappointing.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, thick black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of dark chocolate, roast, toffee, hints of bourbon in there, touch of coffee in there as well. Taste is slightly thin, but bourbon slight chocolate, toffee, roast, hints of dark fruits, hints of toffee, slight earth, finishing fairly sweet, slightly bitter.

Pours black from the bomber with a one finger kahki head. Smells like a bottle of Jack Daniels, along with a hint of roast. Flavor is roasty malts with a nice backbone of kentucky bourbon. IOW, the base beer doesnít have enough umph to handle the bourbon. Lingering bittersweet chocolate. Low to medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel. Not too sweet or sticky. Not bad, but not impressed.

22oz bottle that my brother brought back from Charlotte, thanks Jeff! Pours a black body with a finger-width, creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is woody with a good amount of bourbon and vanilla. Some caramel, coconut, and chocolate provides a smooth malt backing. Flavor is similar. Smooth bourbon and wood up front with plenty of vanilla and a soft chocolate richness to balance. Caramel, coconut, and a light roast note before this finishes dry and woody with lots of vanilla and a smooth malty bourbon. Lengthy aftertaste following a creamy, medium body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a really solid barrel aged porter. Lots of wood, bourbon, and vanilla, but a rich and smooth malt backing balances the big barrel character nicely. Great beer.

Bottle. Pours cola with a slight tan head that leave thin lacing. Aroma is all whiskey with a touch of roast. Taste is surprisingly subdued. Coa, vanilla, oak, a bit of sweet boozy burn. A nice big beer that is big on flavor with a reasonable ABV.

Big bourbon up front actually calms into the porter chocolates and mild coffee. Seems like the bourbon is going to be over-powering on the nose but it's actually very well balanced. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle courtesy of Durhambeer! Thanks Bob!

The beer pours basically black with a small, well retained head, and good lacing on the glass.

The aroma is big and roasty with some good vanilla notes and a light licorice note.

The flavor is very mild in the Bourbon department, which is something I can go either way on... so itís cool in this beer as a mild note. The beer is plenty roasty, fairly low on bitterness, very low on sweetness... but not without some vanilla and woody character.

Sort of reminds me of some Barrel aged stout thing I had from Cigar City.... go figure.

Great smokey porter, great floral notes, chocolate and slight toffee. Pours black with a huge beige head. Tastes nice and roasty with notes of roast coffee, dark chocolate, and slight oak. Mouthfeel is very carbonated. Itís very good but the barrel aging is so subtle. Enjoyable but not amazing.

There is no way they didnít just dump bourbon in this beer. All whiskey on the nose, but the cocoa from the beer and the vanilla from the bourbon play nicely together.
