4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
’11 bottle from Sam - thanks! Pours black with a thin, quickly fading dark brown head. Aroma is oak, bourbon, vanilla, light coconut, and some underlying roast. I do not get much of the heavy roast/chocolate character of the base beer. Taste is dominated by the bourbon with some light roast character following into the finish. Tight flavor profile. Enjoyable beer but not quite as "big" as I expected.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Nice pour with big frothy tan head. Nose of cocoa bourbon booze. Thick body with malt forward taste lingering into cocoa and oak. Finishes with boozy bourbon cocoa. Lingers on the palate with tons of bourbon cocoa. Could be better with longer barrel aging.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. PvW vintage. Pitch black pour with thin head. Nose is smoke, roasted malt, and coffee. Taste is a beef jerky smoke bomb. Very little difference in taste from the non BA version. Not for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour out of 2011 bottle, thick black pour with tan head, aroma brought roast, coffee, slight oak, hints of cocoa, nice vanilla and oak comes through as well, very slight dark fruit notes are in there also. Taste is a mix of vanilla, oak and bourbon, hints of chocolate, lots of roast, coffee notes, slight fruity and caramel notes, finishing roasted. Not as good as I expected.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2013 vintage. Thanks to jportillo for the share. 22 oz bottle served in a Firestone Walker mini snifter.
A: Pours a dark black color with a dark tan head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring that leaves some splotch lace down the glass.
S: Smooth bourbon with a just a touch of heat. Sweet caramel barrel notes with some dark chocolate. There is some minimal char in the periphery as well.
T: The taste wasn’t as nice as the nose. The chocolate notes weren’t as prevalent. The bourbon was upfront with an oak backing. Light roasted malts as well.
M: Medium light bodied with a smooth and medium carbonation. Slightly charred oak finish.
O: A little thin and light on the flavors. Overall it was nice, but slightly overrated in my opinion.

On tap during the release party. Dark midnight pour with thin beige head. Massive dark chocolate, coconut and marshmallow sweetness, and warming bourbon. Slightly syrupy but loaded with sweetness and woody spice. I’m glad I have a few bottles!

another great one opened at the bottle share, rich and chocolate, not very roasted, light bourbon notes, a little muted for a big bourbon stout, its decent
