Opaque black color with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts, dark fruits, vanilla, wood, and bourbon. Taste of vanilla, wood, light whiskey up front, with some roast, coffee, smoke, fruits, and faint alcohol in the finish.

This poured a dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma was lots of barrel and bourbon notes, some vanilla, and light sweet chocolate. Flavor was over aged barrel, some strong bourbon notes, a bit boozy, which seemed to overtake the great chocolate qualities of this beer. I think I prefer the regular a bit better.

Shared a bottle of this with a bunch of people. Poured a creamy, silky pitch black color with a very dark tan head. Aroma was creamy chocolate, very unobtrusive barrel notes. Flavor was divine. Chocolate dominates with the character from the barrel aging coming through and making this a great, wonderful experience to be had. I guess it’s time to try the regular Sexual Chocolate.

From notes. The pour is dark brown in color, but it is noticeably thin from the pour. A light brown or ruby meniscus. The aroma is full of dark chocolate and Pappy. The aroma blends well together, the sweet dark chocolate and the dryness of the oak and Pappy is an interesting effect. The flavor starts sweet, with lots of milk and dark chocolate. As the sip continues, the Pappy comes into play, adding a warming sensation to the stomach. Roasted malt, some espresso, and a bit of vanilla add some depth. The chocolate and Pappy really control the flavor, though. The body is a little bit lighter and more watery than I would like in my barrel aged imperial stouts. Overall I felt it was fairly smooth, with a proper medium carbonation and an alcohol presence that stayed in the background.

Bottle. Nose of dark chocolate, figs, coffee, and caramel. Black with a bright red tinge. Chocolate heavy with coffee and cherry notes. Chalky, dry finish. High alcohol notes. Very, very good.

Sampled at the StL RB gathering. It poured a black color with a dark tan head. The aroma was of ash, fudge, malt tones, and chocolate malts. The taste was of subtle chocolate tones, bitter sweet coffee and a barrel aged prescence. A very good Imperial Stout.

seymour (786) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 20, 2012
Tasted 2010 bottle at the 2nd STL Ratebeer Gathering, side-by-side with a 2012 standard version. True-to-style Imperial Stout plus bourbon-barrel attributes. Compared to the regular Sexual Chocolate, this one had a slightly less persistent head, lower hop aroma, some vanilla and toasted oak, boozier, almost harsh alcohol. Too bourbon-y for me, not very harmonious. This is a case where I liked the standard version better.

2010 version Nose and taste are excellent. Lots of bourbon, wood, vanilla, molasses and coco. Thin in the body and feel but otherwise one of the better BA treatments out there
