If you like a earthy ipa this is for you. Pour is medium amber with a small cream colored head. Aroma is earthy and pine. A earthy, hoppy, lite malt and citrus flavored iPad that is dry and bitter.

12 oz bottle into a Chimay goblet. A: Pours a hazy copper color. Thereís about a finger worth of white-colored head, retaining itself decently. A thin collar remains around the glass, leaving some spotty lacing behind. S: I have to say, the malt backbone here is pretty interesting. Itís bringing brown sugar, candy, caramel, and even some cherry esters - when combined with the grapefruity hops, itís almost like a low-ABV barleywine. Iím not always a fan of malty IPAs, but these guys did a good job making this work. T: The initial grapefruit tasted on the palate quickly turns herbal/floral near the finish. Itís fairly bitter, but not so much to where itís oppressive. Post-swallow, it becomes slightly malty, revealing an aftertaste of toffee, caramel, candied sugar, and even the occasional ester. Iíd reckon this is a bit more complex than the typical IPA. M: Fairly crisp and decently carbonated, if a bit full bodied for my tastes. The bitterness scrubs away some - but not all - of the sweetness off the palate. It isnít super drinkable, but itís a nice one to savor. O: This is a reasonably delicious IPA Iíd buy semi-regularly if it were more locally available. I like that the malt backbone actually adds to the beer instead of distracting from the hops in particular. Good stuff.

Lots of competition in the IPA world, but this beer holds its own. Nice aroma of citrus/tropical fruit, big head, taste is good but slight metallic aftertaste detracts. Iíll revisit on tap.

My Bottom Line:
This suave IPA uses honeyed malts as a bed for citrusy hop resins, leading to an impeccable finish where peppery bitterness hangs out for a long while.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the shiny amber.
-Execution is impeccable, which isnít much of a surprise for a Foothills brew.
-The flavor profile doesnít stand out ; but this remains a very enjoyable, textbook example of the style.
-Even though the flavor profile and finish are rather intense, this IPA is miraculously not tiring. Great job there.
-Mouthfeel is lean and smooth, perfect for high drinkability.

On tap at the brewpub.

GABF 2014. Pours a light golden body with white head. Aroma is fresh hop, citrus - oranges, light grapefruit and lots of clean malt. Mouthfeel is medium to light with notes of oranges, plain hop and pale malt.

Love the strong orange color of this beer. Simple hop filled aroma with medium carbonation. Pours very smoothly into a pint glass with minimal foaming/head. Very bitter aftertaste and palate which is the staple of most IPAs. Solid IPA that is worth trying!

On tap @ ILM. Pours medium orange gokden with thick off-white head. Aroma is light caramel malt and juicy floral hops, light mango and citrus notes. Taste is similar: malt has faint nutty roasty notes but generally light for an IPA. Hops are pleasingly bitter, mostly piney with some faint citrus. Nice simple IPA.
