Bottle at Maltzilla’s tasting. Pours dark orangish color with off white head. Aromas of citrus and some pine with very little malts. Grapefruit and other citrus flavors with some pine and a hint of caramel. Medium body with average carbonation.

This starts with a nice strong blast of pine and citrus. It pours a clear amber, with a two finger white head. A bit heavy with the Simcoe, but a good blast of hop flavors, there is very little malt noticeable in this one. Nice long bitter finish. This is a good solid IPA, but they could back off some of the Simcoe a bit.

Draft at Asheville Brewing. Orange with a thin off white head. Scent is caramel, grass and citrus. Taste is same with some bready notes. So nice I grabbed a bomber to compare.

22 oz. bottle from JCB- thanks again, Jason! Opened the night before DLD at the hotel. Pours a mostly clear amber-orange color with a cm-thick white head. Aroma of citrusy and floral hops, tangerine, pineapple, caramel malts, and pine. Flavor of citrusy and floral hops, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, caramel malts, pine resin, and honey. Light-medium bodied, with medium carbonation and a smooth, juicy mouthfeel. In fact, this is really smooth and drinkable. The bitterness is really well balanced by all the fruit. Great IPA.

Poured on tap into a shaker at the General Store Cafe in Pittsboro, NC. This proved a bit lighter and sweeter than is optimal for an ipa, but still very nicely balanced, and with plenty of hop aromatics to compensate for the lack of a bitter finish. It laced the glass nicely and proved quite drinkable. A solid effort overall, and one of the best NC beers I have had.

Nice amber color on the bottom. Nice thick, two-finger, white head on top. Nice lacing left behind the slow fall of the foam. Smells of citrus and a bit of malt. Some carbonic nose as well. Big malty taste mixed with the hop flavor. Carbonation tickles the tongue as you are hit with the sweet bitterness of this divine nectar. Very good beer. I hope I can enjoy more of these in the future.

Reviewed from notes. Pours a nice amber color with a single-finger of white head that recedes somewhat quickly without really leaving behind all that much lacing. The nose is citrus and pine hops, although they aren’t terribly present. A bit of malt. The taste is slightly bitter and provides a hint of the hops, but not too much there. Slight bitterness in the feel. Not bad, but a pretty average IPA. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 11-11-2010
