Tap at Mellow Mushroom, Charlottesville. Pours an amber, clear, no head. Aroma is bittersweet citrus, tropical fruits, breadiness, and pine. Flavor is quite similar to the smell, with a hint of grain or earthiness to it.

Aroma: very little to describe, slight hop character Appearance: dark brown, hazy; white to creamy head Taste: lacked taste in general - very bland; slight bitter Palate: creamy palate - almost to a Cream Ale Overall: while not a disaster, it was not something I’d purchase again.

A golden amber IPA with a thin off white head. A pleasant aroma of floral hops, honey, quite restrained. In mouth, a good malt base with nice c-hops, smooth and malty, no astringence, well made. On tap at Great North Carolina Brewers Fest., August 28 2010.

Growler from Riverside in Chattanooga. Pours clear amber with a one finger white head, leaves some spots of lacing and holds a good cap. Aroma features nice citrus and tropical fruit, grapefruit and pineapple especially, alongside a good dose of pine, and a little bit of bready malt underneath. There is a trace amount of the signature Simcoe cat spray/weed thing going on too. Good overall strength. Flavor is resinous hops, pine, grapefruit, pineapple, some sweet malt for balance, good bitterness, finishes mostly dry. Quite tasty overall. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, oily and a bit sticky, medium carbonation. Very glad to get a chance to try this! Yum, indeed!

Draft at Barley’s Knoxville. Deep gold with an average white head. Predominant hop aroma of citrus and pine. The flavor is mildly bitter following the aroma with some malt base coming in for balance. Decent IPA.

Poured from a 1/6 barrel keg in my kegerator, the color is a light amber/golden with a thick, foamy white head that slowly dissipates. The aroma is floral, with the hops providing notes of pine and herbs. The complex hop profile mixes with a bit of malt sweetness in the taste, giving the effect of what is almost like a (tiny) squeeze of fresh orange juice. The aftertaste is nicely bitter, and overall this is a great representative of the style from a great local brewery.

Draft at the BA Sexual Chocolate release party. Pours orange-amber with a tight eggshell head which produces thick lacing. This is definitely a citrusy kind of IPA with grapefruit, orange peel and a little lemon rind. Light malt, soft on the palate. Not overly bitter but enough to satisfy. Refreshing. Good beer.

Served from tap at the brewpub into a Foothills shaker from a mispour to another customer. Pours a clear red orange with a one finger white head. There was no apparent lacing evident. The aroma was comprised of subtle malt and hops. The flavor was of subtle malt and a nice hop spice. It was light on the palate with low carbonation. Overall it was a nice and smooth IPA. Had a superb feel on my palate and was very refreshing flavor. Would and will drink this one again for sure.

Draft. Amber gold pour with moderate froth head that stuck around for a bit. Citrus nose with some hints of natural oils. Medium bodied that’s a little weak on the hops and too balanced with the citrus and malts for an IPA. Not enough kick, but a good drink.
