3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 mixmasterob (679) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - JAN 3, 2012
Drank all weekend while in Charlotte. Pretty clear orange pour with a decent head. Lots of lace. Nice hoppy, floral nose with nice notes of citrus and pine. Flavors followed suit with bits of orange, bitter grapefruit and some peach. Nothing over the top, balanced. Finished with a dry lingering bitterness. Great, drinkable IPA from NC.

Draft-Growler. Pours a nice amber ale color with a decent head which dissipates quickly. Nose is very nice, smells of sweet and bitter hops, floral as well. Taste is very pleasant. Notes of sweet hops, bitter but not as much as most IPA’s, and a nice caramel malt finish which balances this beer fantastically. Very good beer, could drink a lot of these

Aroma: Strong citrus grapefruit, caramel
Appearance: looks like Ice tea very little foam, dissapates quickly
Flavor: Great bitter hops citrus hit
Palate: Dry finish
Overall: Excellent IPA

Received in trade from VncentLIFE, thanks for the opportunity.
Pours a crystal clear deep golden color with a decent white head that shows moderate retention with a fair amount of sticky lace. Smells of pine and bread with hints of citrus. Smells like an IPA should clean with a bit of dankiness. Taste is a mix of bread and caramel malt offset with some pine and citrus to remind you there are some hops in this one. Medium body with a dry finish, moderate level of carbonation with a slick resinous mouthfeel. Decent IPA, I really enjoyed it, but seems a bit on the mild side of "India" Clean flavorful brew.

Draft. Good IPA overall. Floral and pine aroma. Clean bitter finish, tasteful, no major problems. I enjoyed and would recommend.

Draft. Very nice fruity citrus aroma. Taste is not overly bitter, and has decent enough malt balance. Nice.

Ported from BA.
Appearance:
Pours a pleasant clear amber color, with 2 fingers of foamy head in my Darkness tulip. As the head begins to recede, sticky lacing clings to the edge of the glass.
Smell:
A mild orange scent is the most forward element here. The smell itself is actually very subdued. A large breath of it reveals that it actually smells very sweet, with pine notes coming through on the end.
Taste:
The side of the bottle claims that the beer is full of simcoe, and that’s certainly true. Pine is the forward flavor here, with some amount of grapefruit in the back end. It’s sweeter than I’m used to for a regular IPA. None of the flavors are bad, exactly, but they don’t quite mix right. It’s not quite focused on any one flavor.
Mouthfeel:
High carbonation, light/medium body. Coats the mouth for a bit, but doesn’t stick quite as long as most that I drink.
Overall:
It’s decent. My big issue is just that the flavors seem to come through in the wrong order. Flipping the usage of the simcoe and centennial hops usage might help. Just a bit more flavor balancing and this could be a great beer.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Braudog (4607) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - OCT 4, 2011
Draft at the brewpub. Bright copper with a sticky head. Very, very nice citrus hoppiness, with the mouthfeel an IPA should have. Totally breaks thru spicy food and drinks with a nice edge. Beauty. (#4277, 10/4/2011)
