3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bought at Krogers on Broadway.
Copper. Medium beige head. Aroma: Piney hops, grass. Flavor: The same with pine to boot. There is also a note of citris. Dry, hop finish. Nice.
This is a real IPA that makes me proud to live in the southern mountains.

Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: Boulevard Ales pint glass
From: Trader Joe’s in Ballantyne (Charlotte), N.C.
Price: $1.67 (I think)
Purchased: July 26, 2014
Consumed: July 29, 2014
Misc.: Appeared to be born in July 2014, but couldn’t read the whole label
Poured a caramel, orange, mostly clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Some bubbles coming up from the bottom. Good amount of foamy, layered, spotty lacing along the sides of the glass. Good retention on the top all the way down.
Smelled Simcoe hops, Columbus hops, citrus hops, grapefruit rind, floral notes, caramel, wet Cascade hops, sharp pine and light resin hops.
Tasted pretty close to the smell. Got wet Cascade hops, spicy Columbus hops, sharp Simcoe hops, citrus hops, some resin hops, floral hops, light grapefruit and sharp pine.
Light-to-medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter, citrusy finish.
A pretty good IPA overall. Would have it again for sure.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Nose was a jumbled mess. Nothing standing out. Deep orange color with nice head.Mild hop taste with more malt than hop.finish is clean. I think this may be an older bottle and past its prime.

This one was all nose. Had a great aroma but the hoppy flavor was weak to almost nonexistent. BOO!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours cloudy orange amber with low white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus, pine. A bit subdued and mellow on the nose. Taste is initially mellow sweet followed by a rich hop bitter finish. Body is medium full and smooth with soft carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Amber body with an off-white head. Aroma of pine, resin, leafy hops, caramel and toasted grain. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of resin, pine and grapefruit. Another resiny, piney ipa, though better balanced with the malts for my tastes than many.

3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Good but not great. Pretty standard hop profile that left much to be desired when compared to some of the bigger IPAs.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz Bottle. The pour was a hazy medium amber orange with an average (1-2 finger) white sudsy head that slowly receded, down to a medium film and large collar with excellent sticky lacing.
The aroma was of grain malts, floral and pine hops and a soapy yeast with notes of caramel and citrus (grapefruit and orange).
The taste was a bit malty with a hint of caramel and a mild citrus sweetness early on, progressing with a nice bitter piney hop taste, a bit of grapefruit with a mildly bitter floral ending. The flavor lasted an average time following the swallow, with a hoppy citrus taste left behind to linger on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was light in body with a dry yet somewhat creamy texture and a medium carbonation.
Overall this is a very simple IPA, a dose of hops, caramel and a touch of citrus. Sometimes simplicity is the best way to go. Simply delicious...
