3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Jack of the wood.
Clear gold body with a generous white head.
Aroma of citrus and pine resin.
The flavor is all resiny hops with some dryness in the finish. Could use a bit more malt support for a better balance. A bit thin.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy blonde and light copper coloured body with some honey tints and a thin off-white head. Resinous and piney scents of hops up front - pungent and strong with some malt and floral notes near the finish. Medium-bodied; Strong fresh hop flavour up front with a largely piney and floral flavour in the middle and also with a nice malt backbone and hints of alcohol on the finish. Aftertaste is very well balanced, but the fresh hop flavours of resin and flowers dominate, however some malt and sugars are still noticeable. Overall, a very nice IPA with some great fresh hop notes and a very nice balance of malt and alcohol. I sampled this twenty ounce pint on draught at Lilyís Pizza in Raleigh, North Carolina on 03-August-2014 for US$3,50 - a great price!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle courtesy of Liz Gambleís gentleman suitor.
Pours a hazy gold with a decent enough head and some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is hop forward with a good little bit of melon like hops as well as some citrus and a good bit of that funkiness that I only ever get from citra hops. There is a touch of carmel & grass in there as well.
The flavor is a touch on the bitter/astringent side for what I prefer in an IPA, itís not bad though itís got a nice bunch of juicy hoppiness and keeps things very low on the sweetness. Some orange rind & tropical fruit notes are in there, I think the more I drink it the less Iím getting that astringency, not sure if itís my palate warming up to it or the beer "opening up" but I am enjoying it a lot more halfway through the glass than I was on the onset.
I am hoping Ajax searches for Lushawn again sometime soon.
