A German-style amber lager – Dark amber to light brown in color. Sweet caramel and toffee aroma. Caramel and toffee sweetness up front with notes of toasted bread and hints of roasted cashews and almonds.

Winsten Sale is a far cry from Bavaria, and this beer is a far cy from a good Oktoberfest brew. With that being said this not a bad beer! pours a brown/amber tone with a bit heavy on the carbonation. A thin layer of off white head that faded somewhat quickly and left no lacing. Flavor is that of Carmel and toast. The finish is a bit weak and a little bitter.

Pours an amber brown with a off white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, with a woody, nutty and light maple syrup. Flavor is malty caramel, maple syrup sweetness, notes of nutty woody flavor. Thick rich and sticky. A good Oktoberfest.

Tasted on 9/12/11 from a bottle. Pours clear, dark orange-amber with an average white head that slowly recedes to spotty lace. The nose is light bread malt with some nutty aromas and just a hint of lightly bitter hops. The flavor is the same light bread malt, with the nutty and bitter hops notes coming through more strongly than the nose would have suggested. The body is light with average carbonation, and a lightly sticky, and nutty bitter hops finish.

My Bottom Line:
Delicately toasted cereals meet herbal hops in this super clean, Americanized version of an Oktoberfest lager.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam stays atop the shiny pale amber.
-The hop profile is bolder than the typical Festbier’s, which is to be expected in these parts.
-Mild caramel sweetness is perceived as well.
-Drinkability is high.

On tap at the brewpub.

Clear brown pour with good head on tap at a pickup curling game. About the most Oktoberfest aromas I could imagine, roasted nuts and all. Flavor is roasted for sure with an aftertaste if heavy cocoa and caramel. Yuck. Not my thing. Oktoberfest in the wrong direction.

Bottle. Perfect amber color. Aroma is praline and hints of can’t corn. Taste is slightly sweet "Payday" like with toast and a slight hoppy finish.

Sample at 201 Central. Dark amber in color. Aroma of honey, caramel, some coffee. Nice roasted malt up front with light bitter hops to finish. Very drinkable beer. Overall, it tastes like a less hoppy, sweeter version of their Hoppyum IPA.
