UPDATED: SEP 6, 2014 22 oz Bomber This was purchased at Tom Leonards Farm Market in Western Henrico. The porter pours a deep black with tan head that quickly dissipated. You immediately detect roasted malt and a burnt toast. The medium body porter has average carbonation. This is a nice porter, it settles down and the finish is smooth with some burnt malt in in the top of your mouth. Had another at Vermillon in Alexandria, VA. Nice porter!

Draft. Deep brown body with a tan head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, molasses and cola. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture and moderate carbonation. Taste of bittersweet chocolate and coffee with a hint of grapefruit bitterness. It’s noticeably thin, but its strength is in its balance between sweet and bitter and the nice flavors the balance produces.

Tap at the brew pub. Pours black brown with a smqll tanned creamy head. Aroma is acidy, roasted malty, slightly fruity, some caramel and chocolate. Flavor is acidy sweet roasted chocolate a bit spicy fruity and bitter. Finishes with a nice bitter roasted and sweet aftertaste.

Pours more dark brown rather than full on black with a creamy beige head. Smells of toffee, chocolate, and hard English water. Smooth and velvety texture. The flavor is loaded with charred oak, bitter chocolate, maybe even some roasted marshmallow. Hops really only show up in the aftertaste. More of an English take on the style and very tasty. The mineral/hard water flavor comes through a bit more as it warms. The finish becomes more bitter, as well. I like this quite a bit.

Served from nitro tap. Appearance was typical of nitro beers with a large fluffy head. Body was very dark brown, nearly opaque. Aroma of coffee, and roasted malt. A little bit of dark chocolate in there as well. I picked up some black licorice in the flavor along with tons of roast. Dark coffee and dark chocolate were present along with caramel. Everything was balanced nicely with no overly harsh bitter characteristics. Mouthfeel was quite watery which is probably due to the nitro. Overall, a really great porter and one I would like to try again either bottled or served on regular CO2.

Pour from bomber, thick tab head on top of dark, deep beer with a tinge of red when held up to a light. Nose is roasted chocolate with a touch of smoke to it. Taste is roasted malt with chocolate notes and then a nice hop and bitter finish that lingers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours mahogany-tinged black into an English pint. Tan micro head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet caramel and chocolate aromas. Medium bodied with caramel and chocolate upfront turning to espresso in the lasting charred finish.

Bottle... Poured dark brown, near black with a light brown head. Nose had dark grains and hint of roast. Nice porter, cocoa, coffee, toasted grains and sugars with mild hop characters. A little drying and mild sweetness.
