On tap at the Leesville Taproom in Raleigh. Black pour gives way to a very small tan head. Roasty coffee and some chocolate aroma and flavors. Nice chocolate character as well. Solid porter.

Robust English style porter that lives up to the traditions of the delicious dark beer heritage. The finish is a definite splash of expresso/coffee. You can smell the earthy coffee undertones and you taste it with every sip! This porter is less sweet and definitely a tad bit bitter due to the expresso finish but this quality is what makes this beer delicious! People's Porter is definitely worth the try!

For a Porter I didn’t really like it - kind of surprised based on other reviews of Foothills. Not impressed.

Dark pour from bottle. Lots of roasted malts in this one, hints of coffee beans and espresso. Not as impressive as I had hoped but still fine.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nearly black appearance with a large, rocky tan head and good lacing. Roasted malt aroma backed by bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Earthy, smokey flavors with notes of brown bread, caramel and chicory. The bittersweetness reappears in the aftertaste. Full-to-medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel leads to a lingering finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
My Bottom Line:
This roasty and chocolatey Porter shares savory malts in a chewy body leading to balancing malt and hop bitterness.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the blackened dark brown.
-Malt flavors are particularly well developed in this one.
-Roasted chicory aromas are found in there as well.
-This is a very good textbook example.
On tap at the brewpub.

Bottle (trade with non rate beer member); pours a dark brown with a tan head; aroma is chocolate, malt, with hints of coffee; taste starts with the chocolate and roasted malt and then has a bitter coffee finish; nice porter

From rate: An English-style Robust Porter – Dark Brown in color with a ruby hue – Chocolate and sweet toffee aroma – Firm unsweetened chocolate flavor with moderate notes of caramel and toffee, an herbal hop bitterness up front and a slight note of espresso in the finish.
Liked the chocolate & toffee. Had a bitter sweet finish that I didn't care for.

An easy to drink very light porter. Slightly smokey and chocolately. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Had at Blackfin in Charlotte.

Bottle from supermarket in Ashland. Damb good porter, thick and coffee and chocolate. Bitter finish. Great drinkability.
