At the brewery. Dark brown, off white head. Nice roasted malt aroma,. Flavor dominated by the dark malts, although not sweet at all. This is good. Faint woodsy hop flavor, leading to a bitter finish. Just a tad on the thin side for my liking. Drinakble and enjoyable, but not quite up to the "big boys" of porters.

Pour from bomber, thick tab head on top of dark, deep beer with a tinge of red when held up to a light. Nose is roasted chocolate with a touch of smoke to it. Taste is roasted malt with chocolate notes and then a nice hop and bitter finish that lingers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours mahogany-tinged black into an English pint. Tan micro head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet caramel and chocolate aromas. Medium bodied with caramel and chocolate upfront turning to espresso in the lasting charred finish.

Bottle... Poured dark brown, near black with a light brown head. Nose had dark grains and hint of roast. Nice porter, cocoa, coffee, toasted grains and sugars with mild hop characters. A little drying and mild sweetness.

Like you’d expect, this pours very dark and has a moderate head. It has a nice roasted smell to it, which is very inviting. Very good taste, with notes of coffee and unsweetened chocolate. Really good beer.

Originally reviewed: 12/7/08. Had this at the Brewery itself with my dinner. This was in the "kettle" last month when I toured the brewery, so I thought I’d give it a try. Came out a dark jet-black with some ruby to the edges. Capped off by a pretty weak tan head that didn’t last long. Some decent lacing, but nothing spectacular. Smell was a little tamed down from my other Porter experiences. Some roasted cocoa, pecans, espresso; all there, just not strong. Great crisp mouthfeel that felt nice and slightly tingly in the mouth. Wonderful flavors of dark chocolate, roasted nuts, coffee, and some dark fruits wash over the palate. My wife doesn’t really like darker beers, but loved this one. Great warming brew to enjoy a colder evening with. Delicious. Recommend.

I swear I’ve rated this like four times now. Anywho, thanks for that Geoff. Love this beer. Nice dark pour with a good creamy tan head. Clean dark grain character with a light roast and coffee acidity with barley husks. Medium bodied with an appropriate carbonation. Easy to knock back despite its substance and flavorful offering.

Bottle. Pours a rich dark brown with a light head that lingers around. Taste is pretty mild and I can for sure why this is an English style porter. Getting the chocolate coming through, but not the espresso in the finish. Good beer as far as porters go, would get again.
