3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz Bomber This was purchased at Tom leonards Farm Market in Western Henrico. The porter pours a deep black with tan head that quickly dissapated. You immediately detect roasted malt and a burnt toast. The medium body porter has average carbonation. This is a nice porter, it settles down and the finish is smooth with some burnt malt in in the top of your mouth.

Traded bottle of unknown vintage. Pours very dark brown with a thick brown head and foamy lacing. Mellow aroma of dark malt and brown sugar. Flavor is slightly acidic coffee and some dark chocolate with lingering bitterness. Fine.

dammit, another example of trying to cram too much hops into a style that doesnt need it. why some american brewers feel the need to do this to every style they make is aggravating.

I had the bbl porter and really like that so I tried this right after. Six pack bottles. Poured black with light tan foam. Dark with strong, but balanced aroma. Medium with not too heavy flavors. Finish was balanced and did not stay too long on the tongue. This is a good, every day porter.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, and toffee. A blackish pour with a short lived tan head and moderate lacing. The taste of coffee, toffee, and hints of dark fruit, and biscuit. Bitter finish. Medium-full body and medium carbonation. Overall, an enjoyable bitter porter. Great lable.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
$1.80 bottle from Wine Warehouse, CHO. Pours nearly black with a large tan head.. Smells of fake chocolate candy. Tastes of chocolate, burnt sugar, malts... has a cheap taste to me.

For me at least, everything about this microbrew porter is good, from it's nice cocoa/coffee appearance and aroma to the schticky communist title and label art - with the exception only of its watery mouthfeel that undermines the experience of this brew.
