Black/dark brown pour ruby hue and thin off white head ... aroma of toffee, roasted malts and light chocolate malts ..... taste of toffee, roasted malts, roasted coffee, caramel malts, chocolate and a bitter hoppy bite ... finish is dry and bitter with a nice roasted coffee flavor that lingers for a bit .... very solid and tasty porter with nice balance

12 oz bottle, thanks to jtclockwork. Pours dark brown with a bit of head. Chocolate, roast, bitter. Chalky and slightly astringent / tart. Light body, average carbonation. Okay.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a very dark ruby color. The head is a fluffy, creamy two-finger mocha shade. It has a soft texture, nice retention, and leaves behind plenty of splotchy lacing on the glass. S: There’s a good deal going on in the nose. Milk chocolate seems to be the dominant note, while both cream and coffee do a good job of underlying it. I also seem to pick up something suggesting citrusy as well. Citrusy hops don’t always work in a porter, but they do here. Everything seems to be well integrated. T: I don’t pick up much of the chocolate or cream I did on the nose. Rather, the most prevalent flavor is coffee - and lots of it. When done right in a porter/stout, piny hop bitterness can make the beer generally resemble espresso, and it does here. Post-swallow, there’s less of a coffee flavor and more of a general hoppy note. Very vague suggestions of fruit esters seem to hang around here and there. Hoppy porters are never my favorite style, but this one seems to work quite well considering. M: There isn’t much heft on the palate; since this is more sweet than bitter, this lightness is welcome. It’s also bone dry and strongly carbonated; naturally, this is very easy to drink. O: A decent - if not amazing - robust porter, the hops here work better than some others in the style. Still, I wish some more of the malt character came through.

bottle from trade with springslicker - thanks Jay! been wanting to try this for a long time - I was underwhelmed - good porter, but not outstanding. Aroma of roast and chocolate, maybe coffee - 5 for app. 3 for palate - would have preferred thicker. taste was of a porter - the roast with a little coffee bitterness at the end.

People’s Porter has a medium, beige, soapy head, a dark-brown, opaque appearance, with brown highlights. The aroma is of slightly sweet, somewhat astringent, with a vegetable (celery) smell. Taste is of the same strange thistle-like flavor, some powdery chocolate, and roasted barley malt. Bitterness is low, and the alcohol doesn’t show itself. Mouthfeel is light and fairly slick, and People’s Porter finishes semi-dry and decently drinkable. Maybe, another batch would be better. RJT

Nice dark appearance, nor a strong aroma, but very chocolaty with coffee on the way down.

Poured from bottle to glass - pitch brown with a two finger foamy tan head. Nice legs in play as we. Looks like porter is supposed to look. Which means it looks good. Aroma is moderately roasted chocolate malts and toffee. Taste is a bit more hoppy and tangy than the typical porter. Carbonation levels seem quite high, giving a very active crisp mouthfeel. The tanginess and carbonation seem to predominate over the toffee, coffee and toasted malt flavors that undergird this beer. General tone is earthiness. I think the hops could have been dialed back a bit, but this is a solid porter that does not lack for depth. Great label as well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
