Growler, courtesy Orlgamecock. This one pours a cloudy, bright golden orange topped by a rocky, off white colored head of foam. The aroma is nice showing equally huge amounts of bitter grapefruit and orange hops and sweet, bready toffee malts. There is also a touch of tropical fruit sweetness as well. The flavor follows suit and is equally huge with fresh orange juice and biter grapefruit up front follwed by some tropical fruit sweetness and big pine resin. The hops are bold and bitter, but are balanced nicely by the big, sweet toffee and bready malts. Big in body and a touch sticky from all the hops with good carbonation and a lengthy, bitter finish. The palate hides the alcohol nicely, which is dangerous because this one packs a punch. Really easy to drink and flavorful double ipa. Really nice brew.

On tap at mellow mushroom Asheville, NC. Very nice color, minimal head. Not much aroma, not super fresh hoppy for a iipa. More bitter than hoppy.

Pours hazy amber into a shaker. Off-white head with good retention recedes to hug rim. Pine and resin aromas. Well-balanced with dark caramel and resin front to back. Lasting pone finish.

Draught. Deep gold beer with not much head or lace. A pretty malt forward IIPA with lots of grapefruit a little citrus and pine standing out among hops aromas and flavors...which are quite potent. Sticky sweet mouthfeel that lingers. Solid IIPA. Would drink regularly.

Originally reviewed: 5/20/09. Had this on tap at the brewpub. Came out a hazy deep gold with a big frothy white head on top. Retention was superb, and there was perfect rings around the glass for every sip. Beautiful. Smells of grapefruity citrus, floral tones, and warm bread. This is very inviting.
Mouthfeel is crisp and firm for this style. This is a total citrusy hop bomb! Huge grapefruit bitterness followed by a mellow sweetness that is absolutely wonderful. Nice tart zest in there as well. This is not boozy in the least. Perfectly sweet with no harshness present at all. Freaking excellent. Drinkability is very high, which is dangerous at this ABV. This is one of the best DIPAs I have ever had. Absolutely recommend.

Draft at Barley’s. Pours a clear yellow with a thick off white head. Scent of grass, pine and citrus. Taste is caramel, pine and citrus.

One finger head. Not aromatic at all. Orange color. Hoppy but not crazy. Good lacing. Solid cheap local draft. Would drink again.

Draft. Pours orange with a white head. Fruity and citric hoppy aroma. The flavor has citric hops, earthy notes, and a good deal of malty sweetness. Decent.

very good, balanced hops with enough sweetness to keep it interesting. had draft at mellow mushroom...knew nothing about it, and didn’t find out it was high gravity until i read on ratebeer. no real alcohol warming. was very sessionable. at 9.4%, glad i only had one.

On draft at the brewery, Dark orange. This had a unique flavor profile. Sweet nutty, chewy caramel, bittering finish. Not an easy drinker.
