3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Appalachian Vintner during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours deep, black-brown with a creamy, tan hear. Hefty chocolate aroma with notes of ash, cocoa and brownies. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with bittersweet cocoa, further ashy roast, torched earth bitterness. Full bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Warming finish with rich bittersweet baking cocoa, dirt and burnt wood. Very good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at County Grill Yorktown. Listed at 9.5% ABV. Black pour with a short tan head. Aroma is strong roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, hops and burnt caramel. Taste is roasted malt, floral hops, dark chocolate, caramel, dark fruit, toasted dark bread and soft vanilla notes. Body is medium-full with a moderate bubbly carbonation. Finishes with more roasted malt, chocolate, light vanilla, caramel, dark bread, dark fruit and floral hops. Is this good? Yes. Does it deserve beer nerds lining up at the break of dawn to get it. Nope. Not even close.

Pours a thick black on tap with lasting tan brown head. Aroma is delicious, awesome chocolate and coffee notes, taste follows. My only dismay is that it may actually get worse and more boozy as it warms up.

2013 release. Pours a viscous pitch black with a fluffy brown head. Toooons of dark fruit including sweet plum and dates, really nice toasty malt, smooth milky chocolate, toffee, and caramel. Super rich chocolate on the taste, roasty huge coffee notes, milky caramel, leather, roasty malt, raisins, and a hint of dark cherries. Even better than I remember it being a year ago. Super smooth chocolate notes, strong coffee, and just super drinkable. I’ll have to revisit a fresh bottle soon when it’s released again.

The climax of this brewery! After tasting, I will always be looking for this brew every February! Very dark almost black in color with obvious chocolate and coffee aromas! Very delicious brew that I highly recommend to everyone!

On draft. Full bodied, strong chocolate flavors dominate. Slight alcohol burn but finishes sweet, touch of astringency but not a lot. Overall, a great imperial. Worth the wait, def try if you can!!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
bomber shared pours almost black with mocha head. nice aroma of deep roasted malts and chocolate...sweet and slightly bitter. the flavor is full based chocolate but in a different sense for me. its almost like a bittersweet chocolate vs a malted or milk chocolate. the alcohol is there but muted. overall I have had better but this rates pretty close to the top.

On tap at GABF. Pours jet black. Slight chocolate aroma. Very malty and a bit on the sweet side. Finishes full and rich with a really roasty chocolate lingering. It’s a great, if not excellent stout.
