Ungstrup (11408), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 16, 2008 A former top-50 beer entered to celebrate my rating number 10200. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of chocolate, tar, and hops. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of roasted malt as well as notes of alcohol and oranges, leading to a dry bitter chocolate finish. Thanks Jeppe for sharing. Papsoe (10580), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 17, 2007 (Hand bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of Bierkönig. Pours a completely opaque, pitch black with a dense, thick and creamy cappuchinoish head - impressive hand bottling done by cquiroga here. Very chocolatey nose. Initially this is rich and full-bodied yet with an odd lightness to it. Comes fairly complex with very burned malts, chocolate and coffee notes combined with a degree of acidity probably deriving from the malt. There’s an underlying sweetness balanced by some malt astringency. Indeed a well brewed and balanced Imperial Stout. 150607 Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 7, 2008 Dark brown colour. Chocolate syrup nose with hints of graham cracker. Chocolatey character with hints of spice, alcohol. Very smooth. yespr (6943), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jan 12, 2008 RB#2700: Handbottled, thanks to Papsoe for pulling this out. Pours dark brown with a lacing mild chocolate brown head. Thick chocolate malty aroma with a mild note of dried fruit. Dark chocolate flavoured, solid bitterness. Finish lingers with a solid dark chocolate and a really heavy bitterness. Chocolate and bitterness overload - brilliant. joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 12, 2008 Handbottled from tap, thanks to Papsoe for sharing.
