Bottle @ WSF 2008. Hazy dark with tiny brown head. Sweet nose with roastead malt, chocolate and caramel. Sweet flavor with hard roasted malt, chocolate, hops and caramel notes. Lovely complexity!

2008 bottle from cletus. Black pour with a tan head. Aroma is totally chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor has some roasted malt, a bit of tartness and some good chocolate notes. A very good beer. But not quite what I expected.

Botella. Black colour. Sweet choolate aroma indeed with roasted malt, dark fruits and sweet caramel. Sticky like mouthfeel. Flavour of chocolate and cocoa indeed along with roasted malt, dark fruits, caramel, raisin, vanilla. Sweet chocolate roasted malt finish. Nice indeed.

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2010 Growler... Pours pitch black with a small, creamy, light brown head. Decent retention. The nose is of chocolate and ethanol with hints of molasses, leather and caramel... also, a touch of acetaldehyde. Flavor-wise, it’s big and malty with blasts of chocolate, caramel, coffee grounds and charcoal. Mildly sweet; moderately burnt and bitter. Full-bodied with a chewy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Chocolaty, charred, abrasive finish. A huge THANKS to boboski for sharing his growler of beer

22 oz. bottle, sent from CooperEllis (thanks a lot, John), pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is very roasted, with high percentage bittersweet chocolate, dry cocoa, some toffee and some dark fruits. Flavour is quite roasted, with lots of dry cocoa powder dominating along with the roasted malts, and some mildly bitter coffee underneath. Not a huge flavour punch, with the dryness from the cocoa making this actually rather mellow and easy drinking. Well-made indeed, but there are much better chocolate imperial stouts out there (Choklat, Brooklyn Black Chocolate, etc.). Not tremendously complex or anything, but easy to drink. Very enjoyable, but short of the status it enjoys on ratebeer, in my opinion.

22oz bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Bottle # 15/500. Poured a dark black color with brown at the edges and a smaller sized light brown head. Aromas of roast, chocolate-cocoa, caramel, and molasses. Tastes of cocoa, caramel, dark fruits, and a lighter roastiness.

Pours completely black, with modest white head. Thanks Mikesgroove. Pleasant aroma, was expecting extreme chocolate and happy that was not the case. Also happy not coffee overdone. Well integrated RIS, bittersweet chocolate. Medium mouuthfeel. Good drinkability.

Sample at Bad Parenting Club (plus a few dirty aunt/uncles?!): NC Beer Edition on 03/28/2015. Pours a dark brown color with a medium thick foamy khaki head that diminishes gradually. Sticky patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Full-bodied with flavors of roast malt, cocoa, coffee and mild hops. The finish is rich and slightly boozy with a mocha aftertaste. Good beer all around that I am shocked it has taken me this long to try.

Solid impy stout here, coffee, caramel, cocoa, roasted barley, it is a bit thin though.
