2008 bottle from cletus. Black pour with a tan head. Aroma is totally chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor has some roasted malt, a bit of tartness and some good chocolate notes. A very good beer. But not quite what I expected.

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2010 Growler... Pours pitch black with a small, creamy, light brown head. Decent retention. The nose is of chocolate and ethanol with hints of molasses, leather and caramel... also, a touch of acetaldehyde. Flavor-wise, its big and malty with blasts of chocolate, caramel, coffee grounds and charcoal. Mildly sweet; moderately burnt and bitter. Full-bodied with a chewy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Chocolaty, charred, abrasive finish. A huge THANKS to boboski for sharing his growler of beer

Sampled from bottle [from trade with BOLTZ7555] @ RBBSG II. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized beige to light brown head. Smell malts, some roasted malts, coffee, chocolate. Taste malts, roasted malts, chocolate, bitter. Lots of dark chocolate bitterness in the finish that lasts forever. Full body, medium but suitable carbonation. Wow, this is a very good stout and a superb chocolate stout! Fantastic.

Pours completely black, with modest white head. Thanks Mikesgroove. Pleasant aroma, was expecting extreme chocolate and happy that was not the case. Also happy not coffee overdone. Well integrated RIS, bittersweet chocolate. Medium mouuthfeel. Good drinkability.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2011 Tap 2011 ed @Foothills. Pours a near black with a yellow, thin head. Not much retention or lace. Aroma is briny, roasty, some vanilla, butter, smoke, and lots of green coffee. Taste is very dry, salty, woody, tart. Palate is chalky, cardboardy with some spice and bitterness peeking through. Loads of prickly carbonation. Pretty thin and tart overall.

Sample at Bad Parenting Club (plus a few dirty aunt/uncles?!): NC Beer Edition on 03/28/2015. Pours a dark brown color with a medium thick foamy khaki head that diminishes gradually. Sticky patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Full-bodied with flavors of roast malt, cocoa, coffee and mild hops. The finish is rich and slightly boozy with a mocha aftertaste. Good beer all around that I am shocked it has taken me this long to try.
