Fantastic aroma, color. Brown head hints of intense flavor, with just a hint of chocolate. Not too much!! High alcohol evident in slight whiskey notes. A top beer.

On tap at GABF. Pours jet black. Slight chocolate aroma. Very malty and a bit on the sweet side. Finishes full and rich with a really roasty chocolate lingering. Itís a great, if not excellent stout.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at GABF. Pour is deep brown/black with a small brown head and good lacing. Light maple, roastiness, tar, dark fruits, a hint of cocoa, and coffee aroma. Taste is big roast, coffee, anise, a hint of wood, coconut, and a touch of bourbon with a touch alcoholic burn on the backend. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Pretty good stuff.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black with a finger tan head.
Smell is roasty, bit ashy, some coco and coffee.
Taste much the same, ashy finish and a bit of dark fruit.
Smooth and full bodied.
Good, but would rather get Yeti or Old Rasputin for the price.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bottle served in a Deschute snifter. Thanks to rnorgart for the bottle. Bottled February 2013.
A: Pours a dark black color with a dark tan head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin cap that leaves some stick lace down the glass.
S: Smokey with a slight char. Heavily roasted malts with some unsweetened chocolate.
T: Heavily roasted malts with some bitter bakers chocolate. Dark chocolate with some smokiness as well.
M: Medium to heavy bodied with a medium carbonation level. Roasty finish.
O: This was a nice RIS with a light dash of smoke underneath. Would enjoy again, but not in the upper echelon of RISís.

2009 bottle - thanks trevor! Smells like chocolate. Taste starts like milk chocolate yet ends with some traditional european stoutness. Not sure if because of age or thats how it is. The chocolate up front is fantastic, just not digging the finish. Really good stuff, but im thinking might be better fresh.
