Tap at the brew pub. Pours clear pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma is malty, fruity, hoppy, grassy and a bit sweet. Flavor is clean pilsner, malty, slightly sweet, has nice fruity touch and is quite well bitter with a touch of tea at the end. Finishes bitter and a bit fruity sweet.

Bomber from Ross. Nose is light amounts of caramel and hints of grassy hops. Clear orange yellow with a medium yellow head. Flavor is moderate bitterness with some slight sweetness and caramel. Would be a decent session beer at 5.3%.

22oz bottle received in trade from ASUBeer. Thanks! Pours a bright, clear yellow with a white head. Aroma is bready, malty. Medium on the palate with soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malt, bready, corn, spicy, light hoppy bitterness, with a clean, bitter finish that lingers a while. A nice pilsner.

Bottle… Clear yellow lager with a small, creamy, white head. The grainy bouquet offers both pale malts and honey. Full-bodied and creamy with laid-back carbonation. The flavor is well-balanced and bittersweet. Tannic lupulin and honey malt are predominant. Finishes bittersweet and then dry. Bottle courtesy of landhoney!

An angry Viking with a beard of flames doesn’t necessarily make me think "Pilsner", but the color of Foothills Torch is quite a bit darker than your average macro pilsner. Still clear and see through, though. Grassy hops in the aroma really showcase the difference, too.
The flavor is full of Saaz hops with a crisp, tart, dry finish. Slightly toasted malt comes through along with with hints of grapefruit. Hops get more aggressive as it warms.
Perhaps the most aggressive and hoppiest pilsners I’ve had. Still, very tasty and quite a bit of flavor compared to other pilsners. Only 5.3% so it’s a pretty good session beer.
If you want a pilsner with a kick, find it!

Got a growler from the Maybank Pig. I saved it for my after lawn mowing cool down. Crisp and yet some complexity. Enjoyable though I may have been scoring a bit high because of the refreshment factor.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Originally reviewed: 7/28/08. Had this on tap at Foothills. Came out a pale gold color, with minimal to absent head. Very little lacing along edge.
Smelled somewhat woodsy and charred. Also some faint citrus.
Well-carbonated. Crisp and clean. Not complex at all. I’m tasting some bread, a little lemon zest. Not a whole lot is being pulled out of this one.
Aside from the simplicity of this brew, it is quite drinkable. Drinks very smooth and clean. Not a choice I’d pick for flavor, but for refreshment.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
pour is a crystal clear golden orange with a rather tight creamy white head. The nose is pretty decent, a little heavy on the grain but adds notes of doughy bread and and some leafy green hops. The taste is slightly more balanced but still a touch heavy on the grain. Grain, doughy malts, some sweet caramel and honey transitions to some green leafy hop notes. The finish is faintly dry, highly carbonated and a bit rough on the back of the throat. Solid pilsner.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bottle that my brother brought back from Charlotte, thanks Jeff! Pours a crystal clear, golden colored body with an inch thick, dense, creamy and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is grainy with a light, pale sweetness as well as some light lemon-grass, cracker, and a few florals. Flavor is straw and grass up front with a light lemon, a few florals, and a bit of a crackery malt. Gets a bit grainy in the middle with a light sweetness to the pils malts before the straw and lemon-grass dry this out with a medium-light bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a light-medium, clean, crisp body and a moderately lively carbonation. Overall, a solid pils. Crisp, clean, refreshing, and easy drinking with a solid flavor. Well balanced and enjoyable.
