3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A pretty typical pils. Light with a straw color and a light grassy aroma. Surprisingly thick mouthfeel and a dense biscuity malt base.

Refreshing, balanced, and crisp are the adjectives to describe this one. It’s not the "top ranking" pilsner, but if you’re a fan of the style you’ll certainly appreciate this one. Aroma is nothing to write home about, but the flavor and finish is pretty nice. The malt is just lightly toasted and sacchariferious with just a wee herbal hop note that adds evenness. Nice job--btw, love your doughnuts Wintson-Salem.

Growler. Pale yellow color with a white head that doesn’t last too long, but laces the glass a tad. Aroma and taste of straw with a good amount of hop for a pilsner. Finish was kind of sweet. For what it is, it’s pretty good - a nice easy-drinking beer for summer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Brown bottle into a 14 oz. pilsner glass.
A: Slight haze to the dull straw yellow color. 1.5 finger frothy loosish white head quickly subsides leaving a very nice lace "pattern". Big bubbles.
S: Strong bready/cracker malt smell with a light but noticeable hop background. Cut herbs and crackers. Crisp, snappy and lively.
T: Dry crackery malt hits first with enough crisp herbal hops coming through to keep the beer interesting. Hops almost exactly same in strength as the barley. Well balanced is an understatement. I expect the malt not to be obscured by hops in this style and this is practically perfect, as the 2 compliment each other beautifully.
M: Not much to comment on here, but the carbonation is nice and fine textured on the tongue.
Great finish! Dry hop remnants with still that crackery "snap"plus a slight chewiness.
O: One of my very favorites recently, this is a go-to for me. It may be obvious that I’m a pilsner guy but this is extraordinary IMO. Easy to find for $9/6, it’s a year-round go to. I love Torch!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a clear straw color. There’s a finger worth of white colored head, and while it’s not the best retaining, I like its creamy texture and somewhat plentiful lacing left behind on the glass.
S: The nice Saaz hops are sadly a bit muted here; there’s a lot of sweet malt here, though. As it warms up, the hops show some more grassy definition.
T: It starts off somewhat malty - not SWEET per se, in fact it’s a little undefined. The hop finish, however, is quite good, bringing not only grassy deliciousness, but also some faint lemon. The hop profile holds promise, but it really needs less intrusive malt for it to shine.
M: The feel is too thick for my tastes, nor does it really dry out efficiently on the back end. It *is* a drinkable beer, to be fair, but it should have been insanely drinkable. Carbonation is nice and strong, at least.
O: A decent pilsner. Could have been great if the malt backbone hadn’t been so...shall we say, ’robust’. Worth drinking again, but not worth getting a 6 pack of again.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is poured a lighter golden color with a one finger white colored head. The head fades very fast to leave a light level of lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The aroma is mainly of lightly toasted grain with light notes of caramel and a citrus and grassy hop smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a grainy and bready taste that is a little on the drier side. As the taste advances light hop flavors initially of a citrus flavor and then more of a grassy flavor come to the tongue. These hop flavors take the taste to its end, with the grassy increasing in potency as time goes on (but never becoming too strong), with all the flavors combining to in the end leave a grassy and bready flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel –The body of the beer is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is very
average. The thinner body is rather nice for the grainier and lighter flavors of the brew and when combined with the moderate carbonation make for a quite easy drinking brew.
Overall – . It is refreshing and relatively crisp with a decent herbal hop profile. A decent and pretty easy drinking pilsner.
