3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle from Whole Foods The pilsner poured a clear golden color with a small off white head that quickly dissipated. There was no lacing. The aroma was a grainy and grassy mixture. The aroma was fruity with apricots and malt. The taste was more complex with sweet fruit and grapefruit. The medium body pilsner had soft carbonation. A nice every day beer but it does not excite the senses. The finish had some acidity but no bitterness.

Not a favorite of mine, but Im a bit biased because i’m crazy for a good pilsner. All in all a great try for an american attempt at a czech style lager.

12oz bottle in a sampler glass. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of pale malts, floral hops, and light dough. Flavor the same. Average to light texture. Not bad but not the best style.

Sampled on draft, this brew is a craft pilsner that takes the standard Czech pils flavor profile of sweet pale malt and Saaz hoppiness and adds a little spiciness to the mix. Soft floral aroma that does not seem to match up with the bitter and spicy flavor. Something about the texture I found off-putting, although it may be just an old keg or something wrong with the tap at this particular venue. Finishes a bit dry, but clean at least. Perhaps even some alcohol notes in the finish, which seems out of place for a pilsner. Can't say I enjoyed this, but it's not bad.

Bottle. Clear. Light honey color. Floral Saaz hops aroma with hints of hay, dough, and vanilla. Taste is hoppy for a pilsner but not overly so. A little spicy, peppermint perhaps, medium bitter finish. Well balanced and drinkable.

12oz bottle pours a completely clear, slightly burnt gold with some frothy, lacing white head. Nose is has a lot of wet straw, malt, some metal, lemon, grass. Flavor has some sweet malt, almost a little light pineapple, grass, lemon, mild pepper, straw. Clean finish. Solid beer.

Bottle, a little more chilled than cellar but not cold. Smells all kinds of wonderful, but deceptively so. I think I’m smelling a darker beer. Pours pale yellow with a thin head that dissipates quickly. A little carbonated for my taste, covering up what could be a complex taste, but mostly finishes bitter. It looks like a cheap beer, smells like a great beer, and the taste is somewhere in the middle

11/27/13. On tap at the Mellow Mushroom in downtown Asheville. Clear golden pour with a small off-white head. Light aroma, hints of spicy and grassy hops, some doughy malts. Malty flavor, doughy malts, pils malts, hints of spicy hops. Sweeter than expected. Not bad.

Just not a fan of pilsners. Tastes skunky and very similar to Heineken. Smells skunky as well. Pours a light yellow in color.
