3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tia (763) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - FEB 3, 2013
Bottle. Looks like your classic beer- clear golden with a pillowy head with decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of cereal and honey with the sweetness cut by a dryness- maybe a hint of a vegetal smell. Flavor is lightly sweet, a touch grainy, then dry. Nice dry/lightly bitter finish, seems well-balanced, fairly high carbonation. A nice lighter beer.

Herbal hop aroma. Crystal clear light gold color with fine bubble. Little lacing, no head. Taste is dominated by saaz hops followed by bitterness. A crisp, clean, well done czech pilsner. Would drink again.

Clear golden color, nice efferrvescence, a good inch and a half of acid white foam. Good head retention and a little bit of lacing. Mild grassy hop aroma.
A mild pilsner, but quite drinkable. A drier grainy malt flavor is complimented by a grassy spicy hopping. Tastes very fresh and authentic, though definately on the mild side. Light body, thirst quenching. But ultimately a bit too mild for my preferences.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Scubatrip (584) - Annandale, Virginia, USA - SEP 6, 2005
On tap at the brew pub, the pilsner pours a clear, light gold with a bubbly head. Aroma of yeast and tastes of grassy hops, alcohol, and light bitter spices. Smooth, but definitely carbonated mouthfeel. I really liked this one.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2012 This is one of my like three go to Pilsners. Clean sharp straw gold pour with a sticky white head. Nose is bright and spicy, lots of grassy/spicy Saaz character with a lightly citric character and bread notes. Lots of fresh cut grass and spicy citrus rind. Lightly bread. Light bodied and zesty with a crisp finish.

Underrated pilsener. Had a couple pints at the Federal, Durham, and I find that this compares favorably with Tupper’s Hop Pocket and Victory Prima. It’s not got quite the hoppy bite of those other two (perhaps because it doesn’t use Hallertau hops?), and instead has a really smooth and floral quality, even a bit buttery. But I found this very enjoyable, drinkable but with a pleasing complexity.

Refreshing hop aroma. Sweetness means the malt is there, as it should be. Very smooth with some hop bitterness. Very drinkable and well-balanced. Really like this pilsner.

A bottle of this fine beer came to me courtesy of Durhambeer!
Pours a very pale golden, perfectly clear, with a very small head.
The aroma is herbal and "robustly" hoppy. The malt sweetness while noticeable is either very low or hidden by the spicer & more herbal hop character.
The flavor is mineral-y & enjoyably bitter. The hops are well featured and of course very saaz-y with nice notes of grass, herbs, and mild fruit skin. The beer is only lightly sweet and very bright.

On tap at foothills, great white frothy head, a subtle hop aroma, a little weak hop taste, I would prefer a bit more hop character, still nothing wrong with this crisp later.

An angry Viking with a beard of flames doesn’t necessarily make me think "Pilsner", but the color of Foothills Torch is quite a bit darker than your average macro pilsner. Still clear and see through, though. Grassy hops in the aroma really showcase the difference, too.
The flavor is full of Saaz hops with a crisp, tart, dry finish. Slightly toasted malt comes through along with with hints of grapefruit. Hops get more aggressive as it warms.
Perhaps the most aggressive and hoppiest pilsners I’ve had. Still, very tasty and quite a bit of flavor compared to other pilsners. Only 5.3% so it’s a pretty good session beer.
If you want a pilsner with a kick, find it!
