Retorp (2148), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 The aroma is decently roasty, but style wise probably not as noticeably as the porter. Some faint tobacco. Coffee and dry bittersweet cocoa. The body is full black and holds a creamy, but smallish, mocha head. The first sip is very satisfyingly roast/burnt/dark chocolate bitter with just a hint of sweetness. Cooke dark fruit, dry tobacco and a roasty, dry bitter finish. Butters (278), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 11, 2008 My favorite of the sampler at the brewpub. Chocolate and coffee notes in the nose. Roasty, toasty, nutty, toffee finish. A little too carbonated, but delicious nontheless. Naka (375), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 28, 2008 On tap at the brewery. A dark black color with a thick khaki head. The aroma is dark coffee and sweet milk chocolate. Flavor is relatively sweet. Mostly chocolate and coffee, with a nice touch of roasted flavor. Some caramel comes through as it warms, as well. Has a really nice creamy body to it. durhambeer (323), Durham, North Carolina, USA Feb 23, 2008 Tried this a few beers into the evening, so who knows... but I loved it. Full flavor, toasty malts and great flavors. Nice medium brown head and a great body. Nice flavors of toasted barley, chocolate, mocha. Liked the fact that it wasn’t super high alcohol. Wish this was available in bottles, but glad it’s local and relatively available on tap. decaturstevo (1134), decatur, Tennessee, USA Feb 5, 2008 @ Foothills. Dark brown our with deep tan head. Aroma of roasted malt dominates. A pretty dry stout with common flavor of toasted malt and bitter. Full solid mouthfeel and carbonation. Very good offerint that meets all the guidelines. I will re-rate when my palate is fresher. I felt is was certainly better than the standard brewpub watery same tasting beers. I liked it alot.
