CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA Feb 2, 2007 Growler sampled on 7/2/06 courtesy of boboski: Pours a rich opaque black with a nicely-lacing frothy tan head. Real toasty biscuity malty aroma has a hint of dark fruity complexity. Body starts full and viscous but not very sweet and thinning some toward the drier, earthy, mildly chalky and roasted finish. A pretty decent stout. JPDIPSO (4286), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Aug 30, 2008 Thanks to my SS for this bottled growler - very nice effort - Thanks! Dark brown pour with a moderate mocha head. Sweet aromas, with dark chocolate, lightly roasted malt, ash, creosote, some dark fruits and coffee. Lightly silky feel that thins out with some of the acidity in this one. Dark chocolate, french roast coffee, and some almond bark in the flavors. Finish is rather quick, but the linger is long with roasted malts. Some hints of dms throw thing off. jcwattsrugger (4045), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jul 15, 2007 on tap-pours a light brown head that laces and black color. Aroma is dark malt-coffee/faint chocolate. Taste is dark malt-coffee/licorice, acidic. goldtwins (3740), Nesconset, New York, USA Jul 7, 2006 Growler from Boboski. Poured black with a meidum tan head. Nice big coffee aroma. Notes of ash from the big roast on the malt. The flavor started with big ash. I don’t mind some of that flavor but I like it to be more of an after thought and not up front. Tones down to just roasted malt after. Medium bodied.
