Our Copperhead Ale is a copper colored German-style Altbier, with a light, malty sweetness and a pronounced hop flavor. Alt is the German word for old, referring to the older style of ale brewing. Altbier is Germany’s pale ale. Copperhead Ale is top-fermented, making it an ale and it has a medium body. It has hints of maltiness and hoppiness in its aroma, with a definite hop flavor and a medium hop bitterness. Altbier is predominately brewed in the northern part of Germany, especially Dusseldorf and gets its "sweet roast" flavor and copper color from caramunich malts.

Came from Beer of the Month (or something like). Opportunity to try beer from the east. The west rules, excepting Dogfish Head of course. This beer was thin with little hoppiness. Nice red tint and pleasant caramel (although subtle) aroma.

Hateful stuff. Reasonable colour. Flat as a pancake. Nothing on the nose. Nothing on the tongue.

More fizzy than flavoursome. Great reddish amber colour. Very mild aroma slightly cloudy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Ram’s Head, Annapolis on 5/25/14. Pours coppery, no head. Sweet malty aroma with some leaves and grasses thrown in. Taste is slightly eggy - not in a bad way (eggs and beer - yuck! - but no... it’s OK). Also has some copper, leaves, and grass in the mouth, Slightly floral.

[Bottle] Darker amber color with very little head or lacing. Nose is of sweet caramel and some nuttiness. Taste is mostly caramel and grains, with little hoppiness to balance it out. Sweet finish. Thin mouthfeel. Not much happening here. Tasting notes from 12/2011.

Aroma is sweet caramel malt all the way. Pours amber with a white head. Flavor is a hearty dose of caramel malts. Mildly thin body, average carbonation. Middle of the road amber. Good though. Would be a great sessionable yard work beer.

Pours a nice copper color and seemed to have promise. That is where the positives end. Taste was pretty flat and leaning towards and malty sweetness that can be overpowering. Just not much to it. Not much in the way of hops or finish. Would not want any more than 2 oz tasting.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Poured a slightly hazy amber colour with a thin, but dense white head. Aroma of toffee, bread and some toasted malt. Sweet, dried fruit flavours with some brown sugar and earthy hops. Finish was quite dry with some residual hop bitterness, offset by butterscotch-esque sweetness.
