Tap - @ RHP. Pours dark caramel-red, no real head. Looks like Coke. Light aromas of cola, nuts, toasted malt and dark fruit, plums and figs. Taste is but of caramel and vanilla, hints of plum, chocolate malt. Lively palate, decent finish. Pretty good balance. Not bad, which is better than not good.

Serving: Draft at Rams Head Tavern. It pours a dark cola color with a small tan head. The nose has light caramel notes. The flavor is a little sweet and seems to lack body for the style. Very simple interpretation with straight forward caramel, a little dark malt, and a lingering bitter finish that gets old rather quickly. The flavor profile doesn’t hold up to German examples of the style at all. Slightly south of "meh".

Sweet, brown sugar flavor. Caramel nose. Medium bodied. Dark amber brown appearance and cloudy. Tried with the parents in London in 2012.

Of the few beers I have sampled from this brewer, this is my favorite. Pours very dark brown with a lacing off white head. The aroma is full of caramel and molasses. The flavor is very similar, sweet and rich with a full body. The finish is long lasting. Save this one for the cold months though.

Pours a dark caramel with a rapidly fading head. The aroma is sweet and flavorful. The taste is pretty rich and complex. Nothing too over the top but fairly well balanced. It’s medium-full bodied but quite drinkable at 8%. Not bad!
