jgb9348 (1793), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Jul 5, 2008 Super hazy ruby glowing brown coloured body with almost white/yellow highlights because of the haze. In addition, tons of chunky large particles at the bottom make for a crazy look. Aroma of bananas, clove, anise, liquorice, canned corn and yes - wheat and yeast. Full-bodied; Strong yeastie flavour with wheat, bananas and cloves most noticeable. Aftertaste is mellow and wheatie, showing some alcohol and a plentiful amount of sugars. Overall, a pretty good weizenbock, not complex near the end, but the flavour shows well. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 03-May-2008 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 05-July-2008. Statman (3), Maryland, USA does not count Jun 27, 2008 This Weizenbock is one of the best in the Baltimore area since DeGroen’s versionin the 90’s. I would put this up against Aventinus from Germany and prefer it over Clipper City’s Hang Ten and Victory’s Moonglow Weizenbock. FatguyRacer (77), Crownsville, Maryland, USA Jun 14, 2008 Bottle. Lately i’ve been wanting to try as many wheat beers as I can find in my area, so I picked this up too. I read the reviews and to be honest i wanted to like it as much as everyone else did, but i cant. I do like it, but not as much everyone else. I need to try this in the fall. I’ve been drinking too many hefes lately. I need to revisit this in the fall next to Schnieder Aventinus and other weisnbocks. gpekar (117), USA May 28, 2008 I sampled this at a beer tasting at Total Discount Liqours in Eldersburg, MD. I liked it and got a 6pk. It poured a cloudy copper/amber color with a tall thick foamy head. There was a distinct wheat aroma and a bit of a mild citrus scent. The flavor was a nice smooth sweet taste that had a crisp clean tangy spice to counter balance it. A very good weizenbock, worth a try kidmartinek (656), austin, Texas, USA May 21, 2008 Pours cloudy copper with a good head, but the head doesn’t last. Looks delicious. Kinda smells like seafood. Full flavored,, full bodied, medium dark wheat that is a little sweet. Cold clean mouthfeel. Spicy, yeasty, sweet finish. This is a really good weizenbock.
