COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Fordham Lager is a golden Bavarian-style lager, with a firm malty body, a subtle hop character, and a slightly sweet finish. Helles is the German word for light or pale, referring to the color of the beer. This is the everyday drinking beer for Germans in Munich. Fordham Lager is bottom-fermented, making it a lager beer, and has a medium to light-body. It has a clean, malt accented aroma and a malty finish with little hop bitterness. Our Fordham Lager is a very balanced beer, meaning that it is not too sweet and not too bitter. It is brewed mostly with pale malted barley and small amounts of Vienna and Munich malts, which increases the body and maltiness in the beer.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Hazy (from chill) golden with a medium white head. Bready malt aroma, with mellow floral hops and faint sulfur. Clean light malt flavor, bread, lo-med bitterness, and egg notes. Light-med bodied, somewhat creamy dry. OK for what it is.

Bottle. Beer of the Month Club. Slightly hazy deep golden-orange color with a small, quickly-dissipating, white head. Grainy aroma with some malt, hay, a hint of caramel and light floral notes. Sweetish grainy flavor with malt, vegetal hints and a mildly bitter finish. Light-medium-bodied. Drinkable but not great.

Bottle from beersofeurope.com. Cloudy dark amber lacking any head. Citrus malt aroma - very faint, as is the taste. It has that salty malted helles character but with no real duration. Far too watery.

glennmastrange (1888) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - NOV 3, 2012
Bottle. Light notes of grain, hay and herbs for the malt and hops, with a hint of paper and cooked vegetables. head is small, fizzy, white with no lacing and is mostly diminshing. Flavor is faintly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and faintly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a lively carbonation. A nice drinking beer with only some Helles aspects to it.

Pours a tan-gold color with a thin white head. Aroma is spicy, belgian yeast, some skunk; acidic. Taste is sharp, Belgian yeast, slightly sweet, some fruit. Clean mouthfeel. Not bad, but certainly not great.
