walleye (803), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Jan 7, 2008 Got this in a trade a while back but I do not know who sent it, but thank you. poured a amber color with a white head. aroma, some malts and toffee, yeast, grassy. flavor, about the same as aroma but with a hint of alcohol Goodgrief (992), Middletown, Delaware, USA Aug 11, 2007 I’m kinda liking these Maibocks when I try them. Appearance and aroma were unnoteworthy. But this had a good taste balance. Sweet but not too sweet. Hoppy but not too hoppy. Tasted like apples. I’d try this again and give some patronage to my fellow Delawarians. jpm30 (1577), East Central, Georgia, USA May 14, 2007 From a 12 oz. bottle with a blurb on the back label, no freshness date, sampled at cellar temperature in a pilsener glass.
Poured a clear golden hued tarnished orange with a frothy, rocky white head, good retention, settled in a thin sudsy lacing, minimal amount of ringed sticking.
A grape and red plum fruity aroma with a light amount of spiciness and sweet bready malts.
Tiny bubbles at the top, moderate carbonation overall, and a crisp, dry, smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel.
Pleasant. but average tasting, sour grapes and dates, the fruitiness meshes with the alcohol to give the taste a mild acidity, grain bready with a hidden touch of sweet caramel, an soft earthy spice, herbal bitterness, and a dry sour fruity, grainy finish.
Not a bad Maibock, I know my score reflects having tasted a much better Maibock at a brewpub last week, didn’t have the overall malty sweetness one would expect from a Maibock.
hopslovin (159), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Dec 23, 2006 12 oz. bottle. Pours golden with white head that quickly diminishes with slight lace. Wheat aroma. Clean mellow taste that fills mouth with malt and slight bitter hops. Beerded_one (1549), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 1, 2006 On draft at the Newtown Brewfest with Stegosaurus and The Mad Indian. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma of hops and grains. The flavor is sweet upfront and finishes bitter. Good beer.
