Appearance: medium amber, one-finger tan head. Aroma: caramel, toffee, hint of smoke. Taste: caramel, brown sugar, bit of dark fruits. Finish: <b/> slightly sweet, smooth, lightly carbonated. Notes: Decent scotch ale. Not great, but not horrible. I don’t get the low rating.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 strongpieman (805) - Mount Airy, Maryland, USA - JAN 27, 2011
Bottle. Copper to light brown color, clear. Almost no head, just wisps of white foam. Aroma is a very pleasant malt with hint of smokiness & peat. Full body, soft carbonation, smooth. Warming beer... good all around.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 DavoleBomb (1143) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 12, 2011
Poured into a snifter.
4.0 A: Rich amber hues for color. Two fingers of thick, frothy head with average retention and plenty of lacing.
3.5 S: Very malty. Caramel, toffee, and a touch of spice.
3.0 T: Caramel comes through again, but also some unpleasantries. It’s really boozy and has a medicinal like quality to it. A little bit of herbal hop flavor.
3.0 M: Good carbonation but a little underbodied. Very smooth however.
3.5 D: Not bad, but nothing I’d want again.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 scraff (2120) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - FEB 15, 2010
12 oz – The Wine Source. Deep copper red, thin off white creamy head. Sweet caramel cherry notes warm to lighter swirls of bready toffee and smoke. Warm toffee and golden raisin-like flavors are well balanced on undercurrents of smoked cherry and vanilla booze. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, soft sweet malty finish. Shockingly well done…

Aroma: Earthy yeast, some spice,
Appearance: Amber, thin off-white head

Palate: Light bodied, somewhat fizzy, diminishes quickly
Overall Impression:
It’s got an interesting nose, some decent flavors, but nothing that will blow you out of the water.
