Draft @ Brugs Beerfestival ’12. Brown, murky coloured beer with creamy, yellow head on top. Aroma of dates, malts and chemicals. Flavour is full, thick and again loaded with sweetness of the dates. Interesting brew.

Dark, dark, ruby-tinted toffee colored pour. Small off-white, almost tan, head. Minimal lacing. Rich malty aroma with notes of raisins, molasses, and alcohol. Tastes of molasses and malt water. Slight vanilla and caramel. A sour taste and moutfeel with some sugary sweetness. Not bad.

(33cl bottle best by 9/2012 thanks to bu11zeye) cloudy ruby with dark tan creamy head. Nose of caramel, hazelnut, creamy, honey and cherries. Taste of cherry, toasty caramel, honey smacks, mild bitterness and molasses.

A clear dark brown ale with a thick moka head. In aroma, a sweet chocolate with light molassey note, herbal, licorice and vanilla. In mouth, a sweet caramel and butterscotch, with light coffeee notes, rather light bodied and simple. Bottle at Poechenellekelder, July 12 2011. 4.30 euros/330 ml bottle.

Bottle 33cl, a dark amber beer with huge brownish head. Nose is on spices and quite ginger like. Aroma is malty, toasted like, medium sweet with a fruity body on cinnamon, ginger and lemony. Not bad at all ! A bit too much carbonated, some acidity at the finish, I did drink it at 19° should have had it a bit lower.

Huge, very dense cream-coloured head, uncannily stable over gorgeous ruby to chestnut beer. ’Thick’ sweet-salt nose, in fact, remarkably like Chinese Hoi-sin sauce, or aromas as soya-based plum sauce; generally fruity and sweet-spiced with a salty hint. Taste is a again a combination of sweetish fruit (plums again) and warm spices (cinnamon, allspice, five spices,...) The saltiness suggested in the nose reduced to some mineral to metallic flavour. Spiced bitterness too, as from the pure spicetastes. Faintly woody, dried fruit, brown candi sugar. Everything suggesting a rich palate, but that is actually nearly thin, too watery to my liking. Quite surprising and, indeed, original brew. Despite the thinnish mouthfeel, the balance is finally satisfying. One to be tried, certainly.

8/05/2011 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 9/2012 (2011-200)

Dark brown beer, pretty cloudy, some chunks settling at the bottom. Light beige head, falls down fast to a thin creamy layer on the surface. Aroma: caramel, dried fruits, bit of mocha. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity, sour, green apples, caramel, a hoppy bitter touch in the end. Aftertaste: more of that weird tartness, sour cherries, very little bit of mocha. Totally not what I was expecting. And not a big fan, but I give them credit for making such an unusual beer.

330ml bottle (Helsinki Beer Festival 2011)
7 Heavy yeasty aroma, slightly marmitey.
4 Dark and opaque. Beige head
7 We were too busy enjoying drinking this to actually spend time writing much down. However, we do remember why we liked it. It’s a dense and heavy malty brew, just with a slight hint of dark berries.
4 Full and thick, perhaps a little sticky, but this is so luscious that you have to forgive it that minor issue. The finish develops into something quite bold, it brings out the dark berries from the taste, and lasts for quite a while.
14 Oh yes, we do like this.
