Bottle shared by Vestergaard (got it from his grandfather). Pours ruby red with no head. Aroma of sweet malts, sweet biscuit, some caramel, sweet and fruity esters. Taste is kinda sweet with some bitterness towards the end. Caramel, hops, ripe sweet fruits and some sweet biscuit.

Thanks to grandpa! Bottle. Pours clear ruby red amber with a small, short lasting, white head. Aroma has caramel, cookie dough, some sweet belgian esters, dried plums and dates and banana. Taste has long time boiled hops, and therefore some more bitterness. Still quite a lot of caramel malty sweetness, fruits and stuff. Little low carbonation for my taste. Medium body.

Clear amber, smalloffwhite head. Fruity, malty aroma. Taste has some caramel, some dired fruit. Creamy mouthfeel. Not bad.

Itĺs dark golden with a small head. The aroma is sweet and malty with notes of caramel and candy sugar. The flavor is sweet with notes of candy sugar, caramel, malt and alcohol, and the finish is alcohol spicy.

Slightly hazy nut brown color, small beige head. Caramelly, toffeish aroma, some grassy notes. Medium-bodied. Toffeish, sweetish, doesnĺt feel that ABV. A bit lagerish thou. Not so exiciting.

Sample at DěE 2013. Amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, caramel and fruit.

33cl bottle on the ferry from Seyisfj°rur. Virtually odourless, rich ruby in colour, drawing out towards almost Scotch-like warmth towards the end. More approachable than its big sister but in need of more nourishment.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with stable off-white head. Mild aromaof hops, malt and a touch of fruit. Sweetish, malty flavour with notes of hops, dried fruit and caramel. Creamy mouthfeel. Almost no finish; it is as though every sip mysteriously vanishes when it reaches the hard palate. Not bad, but more like a triple than an ESA.

Bottled (thanks Papsoe!). Amber colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is floral, wooden, some toffee and a bit saltwatery notes. Flavour is a bit salty, malty and quite toffeeish and a bit sweet as well. Not too much alcohol atleast while cold.

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 13/20
elvar (9) - ICELAND - SEP 30, 2012 does not count
in the barley wine genre, kind of harsh palate. Aroma is very pleasing for a cold day. will probably improve by cellaring.
