Draught Sampler @Marktschänke, MÜ 2015/3 as Gottfried Jakobs Blanker Bock, 7,6%. Almond glue on white bread nose. Taste open on soapy proteins, bocky pale malt sweetness and honey kept very well in check by a balanced mouthfeel. Good herbal bitterness mixing in floweryness amongst the marzipan glue-dense malts, giving off some schnaps or Obstler. Good, but glad I could have less than a Halbe.

At the brauerei. Hazy golden to orange in color, vigorous carbonation bubbles on display, nice white to off white colored head. Aroma of sweet bread and grains and caramel and light fruits. Flavor followed and was a bit too sweet to present an underlying lager quality behind it all. Quite nice though and hard to believe it was 7+% abv. Mouthfeel full but not sticky, which if it was in conjunction with the sweetness, might have turned to a poor experience. Strong carbonation helped keep this pretty drinkable.

Tap at Forschungsbrauerie. Warm sunny October Sunday. A real Shredded Wheat moment. Two was enough. A real Bock with honey, cloves and hops which misleads one to drink more than is good for oneself. Where the rest of Munich is devouring more and more of substandard bier, this is indeed a joy to behold and enjoy.Worth the 20 minute SBahn to Perlach. The band weren’t too shabby either.

Draught at the brauhaus, 7.6% ABV
Hazy golden color with generous compact head. Moderate aroma of malt, sweetish, with light fruitiness. Full bodied, good malt flavor, with medium sweetness, but well blended; correct bitterness, with a light hay touch in the final; the alcohol is quite well hidden.
Balanced and pleasant.

2L growler from the brewery. Pours a lightly hazed, golden copper colored body with an inch thick, creamy and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is malty sweet with some bread, caramel, apple notes, and some grass. Flavor is similar. Medium sweet caramels with some bread, grass, apple, and a light alcohol warmth. Finishes a touch sticky while drying cleanly with a medium bitterness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid beer. On the malty side, but well balanced with a nice bitterness and a slight alcohol note. Pretty easy drinking for the size too. Good one.

Tap at the Forschungs Brau haus, Perlach - 16/07/12. Served in a ceramic mug so taking a punt on the colour being a mid to dark brown with a good off-white head. Malts, bread and fruit on the nose. Taste follows on, figs, dates, toffee. Fairly full bodied with a smooth finish.
