Draught at Eataly, Bologna. Dark amber-copper with a creamy tanned head. Nose of confectionary fruit and a hint of chocolate. Flavour is slightly more robust - chocolate, licorice and that candied fruit taste. It sure is rough around the edges. Sweet finish. A big miss for the style but looking past that it really lacks character to keep interest.

11.2oz bottle-pours mahogany/copper with a tan head and trailing lace. Aroma is sweet medium malt-roasty/toffee/molasses, dark fruit, musty. Taste is sweet medium malt-roasty/brown sugar, dark fruit, musty/earthy hops.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Leighton (4099) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 27, 2012
Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, ruby brown with a foamy, light beige head. Aroma has a lot of that ripe, cherry-grape-raisin character to it, with some rich bread and sugary caramel. Medium sweet and quite bready, with some semi-darkened sugar, ripe (almost rotting) semi-dark fruits, very mild leaves. Medium bodied with average, smooth and creamy carbonation. Medium sweet to finish with just a whisper of alcohol, dark bread, mild fruit undertones. It’s a pretty light doppelbock, but a rather drinkable one, too.

Bottle- a little past the due date. The head seemed to non existant and the aroma was off. The color was deep brown with some toffee getting through the light skunk smell. Taste was of nicely roasted malt with a slightly thick finish that really finished the beer on an up note. Never heard of the beer, but happy to find it. Produce place 1.49

Good head, a slightly metallic nose and taste. Not a big taste explosion on the tongue, but could be due to drinking cold. Good nut brown color.

Tap as Forst Rossa at a pizzeria in Firenze. Pours ruddy amber with a small creamy beige head that laces. Aroma of oak? Med body. Flavor is lightly grapey ande fairly woody. Finishes on the bitter side. Very good beer. So. Did I get beer that was a bit infected? Or is there another Forst beer that is widely distributed that pours copper/amber? I had a very good beer.
