3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ogivlado (4444) - Zagreb, - MAR 2, 2009
Bottled(330ml). -Pale brown coloured, small to medium off-white head, fruity alcoholic nose with notes of spices. Fair malty, well hopped, caramel and slight herbal with touch of spices in the finish. Once again very nice Forstner beer. Jahrgang 2008.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 BeerCast_Rich (1202) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAY 1, 2012
[330ml bottle courtesy of dantheman278] Opaque beige beer, totally flat. Sweet, alcohol forward aroma. Touch of bourbon. Highly carbonated. Sweet marzipan and almond on the flavour. Lots of yeasty banana in the mix as well – if I’m honest, there’s just too much going on, everything clashes and it ends in a sweet muddle [22042012]

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 dantheman278 (976) - SCOTLAND - APR 22, 2012
Bottle from Biererei. Hazy golden brown, very small head fades to nothing. Big caramel nose, hint of yeast character, berries, bananas, open alcohol. Nice honey palate, caramel, zesty fruits, alcohol, big sugar, a bit over-sweet but not too bad.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Leighton (4099) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 2, 2012
Bottle at home in London. Pours hazy, amber-red with a thick, creamy, off-white head. Some slight tang on the nose, a bit of toast and caramel. Fairly sweet, definitely a bit too tangy, some piney bitterness, caramel, some underripe fruits. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish, tangy malts, some light earth, pine, toasted bread. The tang is a bit off-putting, and I have to imagine this is not the way it ought to be. In the end, it’s just alright.
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 garrettdcole (23) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - FEB 8, 2011
I have sampled this beer 5 or 6 times at this point (between purchases from Biererei and Bier Imperium, Wien) and I have to say I am still amazed. This is currently one of my favorite beers! As other reviewers have previously noted the flavor profile is much more dubbel than tripel; in fact, in my opinion the taste and appearance are quite similar to t Smisje Dubbel from Regenboog: sweet, yet slightly funky, with a perfectly balancing bitterness. I am very happy to have finally found an Austrian beer that can compete with the Belgians.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 nate2g (1548) - Marlborough, NEW ZEALAND - APR 24, 2010
Bottle (Vintage 2009). Pours reddish brown with a thin white head. Toffeeish nose, caramel, berries and alcohol. The flavour is toffee, caramel, sugar, fruit and alcohol. Sweet and cloying. Big boozy finish. Needs plenty of time in the bottle to mellow out and it’s way to hot at the moment.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 mross (169) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - APR 15, 2010
Bottle - Vintage 2009. Pours a dark amber with reddish hues. Very small off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, apple, fruit, toffee and alcohol. Flavour is very sweet and not very exciting. A small amount of malt and toffee come through but they only add to the sweetness. Alcohol is very noticeable and not well hidden. Very boozy. Dry finish with not a whole lot of bitterness. This is more similar to that of a barley wine.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 armando629 (1995) - Budapest, HUNGARY - NOV 26, 2009
0,33 l bottle, bought at Biererei, Vienna
Opalescent hazy body with a minimal off-white head. Spicy orange peel, clove, nuts, caramel and strong hop with fruity raisins in the nose. Little bit watery texture with strong spicy character on a caramel malt base. Clove, oranges, resiny hop and raisins-plum flavor. Fruity aftertaste. Not absolutely a tripel or a BSA one, the beer is bertween the tripel and the barleyvine style.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 danielst (233) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - OCT 12, 2009
2008 vintage, 33cl bottle: The aroma combines estery fruits with a light spiciness and faint citrussy hops. Hints of the typical belgian character, alcohol and chocolatey malts, dried plums and ripe apples. Deep red colour with a fairly stable, off-white head. Rather sweet, caramel malty flavour, again chocolate. The hops are very subdued, maybe a bit herbal. Mild roasty, bittersweet finish. A little burn from the alcohol. The mouhtfeel is very nice, creamy and medium to full bodied - drinks pretty easy though. The aroma is good, flavour is a little one-dimensionally sweet.. But overall a nice ale!
