Brewed with the finest imported German malts and hops, using traditional German brewing techniques, the Texas Backyard Blonde Ale is inspired by the hoppy golden kolsch ales of Cologne. More complex than your average blonde, bready, biscuity malt flavors combine with ample grassy, spicy hops and fruity esters in a crisp, refreshing brew, perfect for steamy Texas days.

Bottle. The look is clear, white head, and golden in color. The smell is styrofoam, blah, paper, ick. The taste is yuck, grass, and not good.

Bottle. Pours a hazy gold with almost no head; it disappears faster than Rick Perry’s sense of personal responsibility. Nose is generic apple juice, metal, and bread. Sweet on the front of the tongue, with somewhat fake green apple notes coming in after that; there’s also some metal, some creamed corn, and a little yeasty/bready notes. No hops to speak of. Finish is dirty and muddy. Not very good.

Tap at Houston beer fest. Light golden pour. Corn, grain. Light body with sweet finish. Not exciting

Nothing distinctive or pressure about the beer. Watery taste. Light floral notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy amber with an eggshell head. Aroma of biscuit, bubblegum, and chemicals. Taste is the same, though slightly astringent and thin. Light bodied and kind of flat feeling.

Seemed like a pretty average blonde to me, lacking the promised complexity. Wait, wouldn’t complexity imply a brunette? *duck*
