COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big Hazelnut Brown Ale with a warm, nutty, toffee-like flavor. A wonderful winter warmer to enjoy with friends during the holiday seasons. A wildly big strong ale we call the Big Shot.

Bottle poured a clear brown with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of cocoa, carmel and a hint of hazelnut. Palate was medium bodied smooth and creamy. Flavors of cocoa, nuts and a hint of carmel with a sweet finish.

Copper color with a modest taupe head. Aromas of a holiday coffee. Roasted malt, light coffee, caramel, hazelnuts and some wet grass scents. Light and smooth on the palate. Quite dry throughout. A dry nut bread flavor, with mild toffee, nuts, dried flowers and a hint of molasses. If you like hazelnut and a dry brew, this one is for you. A less than exciting brown ale, at best.

1 liter swing-top bottle. Pours a light reddish-amber with a thin and soapy head that goes down to a smokey film.

The aroma is nutty, maple sugary caramel malts with a little bit of chemicals and vegetables.

The flavor is nutty and bready with a little maple sugar. It has a very watery mouthfeel with very little carbonation that washes out the flavor. It has a little bitterness at the end. There is an chemical off-flavor that I can’t quite identify.

This is probably the worst FCB beer I’ve had, very unpleasant. My first drain pour - I could’ve struggled through 12 or maybe even 22 oz of this, but not a full liter. As much as I like their other beers, this was a huge disappointment, I wonder if I got a bad bottle (although at $9 a pop, I won’t revisit it).

Bottle. Expensive. Pours with a soapy head, color is a dark, clear brown. Big roasty, nutty, dry aroma, quite nice. Almost woody. Taste is a huge nuttiness, earthy, funky, and dry. Finish brings a soft bitterness. Wow. A serious brown ale.

This beer poured a clear, dark reddish brown with a small, diminishing white head that left a little lacing. The aroma is really warm; heavy with malt, hazelnuts and alcohol with a trace of cellar and maple. The palate is light-to medium bodied with an easy texture and lively carbonation. The flavor is initially sweet and nutty, giving way to a long, bitter finish. Very enjoyable and drinkable—I’d take share this at a holiday gathering without hesitation.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is clear medium brown. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, nuts, caramel), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
