jasonp (1440), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Jan 21, 2008 Bottle, courtesy of Argo0. Pours dark brown almost black with a quickly fading head. Roastiness, then somewhat of an odd stale cereal aroma and a little cherry. Flavor has notes of roasted barley, chocolate a touch of coffee and caramel, toffee and cola. Not too burnt or bitter. Moderately sweet. Medium bodied with pretty lively carbonation for a stout. Not really memorable, but solid overall.
bretupdegraff (32), , Indiana, USA Aug 19, 2008 Not a big fan of this Stout. Not sure if it was the Chocolate (not a big fan) or just not a good brew. Just didn’t have a good flavor that stood out for me. thornecb (1032), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Aug 18, 2008 Pours deep brown into a shaker. Mocha head with good retention leaves no lacing as it recedes. Chocolate and roasted coffee aromas. Thin and chocolaty with a lasting, smoky, slightly metallic hop finish. joekinty (169), rockledge, Florida, USA Aug 12, 2008 taste of coffeee and chocolate very well balanced flavors could have used more head and creaminess but was very good derekbang (100), Indiana, USA Aug 11, 2008 Pours black but not a thick black - light can penetrate through it if held up. Virtuallly no head and I could tell immediately that this was a thin stout. I’ve had porters that are thicker than this one. Flavor is not too bad for what it is - clearly chocolate and malt but really no tones of anything else. Not a strong offering. BigBeer45 (458), Troy, Michigan, USA Aug 10, 2008 Has a brown black pour with a nice bubbled tan head, you could see through this around the edges, dark chocolate, milk chocolate (some milk character?), roasted malt, a faint coffee fragrance? flavor of roasted malt which is weak, touch of coffee, has a real faint dry chocolate taste, this is a weak tasting stout, mouth feel is thin, watery, disappointing, I was expecting a chocolate stout, the nose on this was pretty good but the flavor is lacking, hardly any chocolate here if any, there are stouts with more chocolate flavor and do not advertise as a chocolate stout, this is good example of a poorly made chocolate stout!
