Bomber. Pours a medium brownish, off-white head, decent retention and good lacing. Nose is malty with heavy dried fruits, hints of smoke, fall leaves. Mouth is malt forward, medium sweet, kinda watery body, smacks you with a big mouth full of raisins, dates, caramel and a pleasant amount of smoke. Finishes kinda weak though -- no way in hell this is 10.2%... if it is, that’s dangerous because it goes down like Kool-Aid.

Bottle. Pours a rich dark reddish amber brown with a thin off-white head. Smokey malt aroma with caramel and a hint of toffee. Flavor was sweet and smokey with caramel, light raisin, dark fruit and a touch of toffee. just a little strong for my taste but a good solid brew

On tap at the brewery. Pour isslightly hazy amber with a big tan head and great lacing. Caramelly, lightly smoky, bready, dark fruity, earthy, roasty, and doughy aroma. Taste is dark fruity, caramel, earthy, grassy, goopy, vanilla, and toffee. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Ok.

On tap @ Ft. Collins. Copper pour with a creamy khaki head. Nose is grain, cherry syrup, and toast. Slight cola, some caramel, and raisin. Tastes like cherry juice and toast. Bread, caramel, cola, and raisin. Light booze, grain, and some hints of smoke on the finish.

On tap at fcb. Aroma is a little spicy. Flavor is peaty and smoky. Taste lingers. Pretty ok

Beautiful garnet color with a nice tan head. Aroma is malty with some smoke and caramel. Creamy mouthfeel, full bodied. Flavor is sticky sweet, coffee like with some smokiness. Lingering creamy, malty smokey finish. Some chocolate even comes through when warmed a bit. Not a hint of alcohol. Definitely a treat.

Bottle shared by Tmoney99 (March 2012). Pours a dark caramel brown with some soapy bubbles. The aroma has a mix of sweet malts and some dark fruit with a bigmeaty smoked ccharacter. Light spicy notes. The flavor is more meaty smoked malt, some caramel, dark fruit with a spicy bite. This was better than I would have guessed.

Interstimg and complex.enough to.score well, but I can’t really say I would.want it again. Copper with a beige head. Sweet country ham and a campfire hits the nose. The taste is caramel candy sweet and smokey.

Copper color with beige foamy head. Aroma of bread and honey. Malty and slightly peaty with caramel, almonds and butterscotch. A very solid example of the style. Even though the beer claims to be "double smoked" it certainly does not overwhelm like many a Rauchbier.

Strong, rich aroma has notes of caramel, horehound, roast malt and quality coffee plus just a snip of semi-sweet chocolate. It pours a clear sienna, with not much head - but this may be because my sample was the dregs of the keg. Robust flavor has a core of roast malt and notes of caramel and horehound plus a hint of honey sweetness. Texture is firm and smooth, though lacking in fizz - but I’ll give it a break because, as I said, this was the last squirt from the keg. Maybe next autumn I’ll get a better sample.
