Pours maroonish with a thin offwhite head. Smell is sweet and smoky. Like a sweet smoky bbq session. Taste is strongly smoky and rich in flavor. Somewhat of a tart, toasty and bitter finish along with some smoke, and the 10+% is hidden very well. Medium bodied with nice carbonation. Pretty good smoked beer with a nice mollassesy touch.
kkearn (652), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 26, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours brownish copper, with a moderate sized tan head. Aroma of smoke, caramel malt, chocolate, and jerky. Smoke is the dominant flavor, with some coffee, caramel, and hops in the finish. Intense smoke flavor seems to mask the alcohol well. Interesting beer. PilsnerPeter (1415), Flushing, New York, USA Aug 25, 2008 Bottle: Pours a nice amber brown color with a creamy tan head. Such an inviting & appetizing aroma of toasted cocoa, mild/subtle maple and a smooth, earthy, wood-like smokiness. The body is creamy and silky. Flavor has a great, smooth, rounded malt sweetness at the fore of caramel and toasted maple. Chewy and substantial yet so quaffable. The fore is perfectly balanced by rich toasted malt notes, as well as the smoked character of burning wood and subtle smoked ham. The smoke isn’t as assertive as some other top Smoked examples, but this stuff has a delicious malt character overall and is perfectly rounded and balanced. A delicious brew. radiomgb (1761), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jul 2, 2008 Deep mahogany in colour, creamy beige coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is smoky, roasted malts, very light chocolate. The flavour is smoky at first, malt, caramel and chocolate come next. Smoky mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a light sweetness, lingering.
Pretty good smoked beer, doesn’t drink like its over 10%. Well done.

pnista (888), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jun 3, 2008 Thanks for sharing this one Yaniv! Pours a darker brownish amber with a creamy head. Subtle fruity nose with suggestions of smoke over a caramel malt backbone. Subtle smooth small bubbled body. Sweet malty fruity over a bit of bacony delicious smoke. Lingering bacon. This is like a bigger sweeter, less smoky, Schlenkerla Marzen. Really a very nice beer! pint_size (1004), Austin, Texas, USA Jun 2, 2008 5-17-08 bottle thanks to BlackForestCO. Thanks Jakey!
Clear red brown with some thin off white head and no lacing. Smell is smokey malt. Flavor is malty and somewhat smoky. Strange sweet aftertaste. Medium bodied with a decent mouthfeel overall. The flavor just wasn’t very appetizing.
