3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pitch black color you’d expect, with a thin tan head. The aroma is more coffee than chocolate. Ashy almost. Drinks with a bitter baking chocolate thing going on, bitingly bitter at the finish, almost gritty. Nice night cap. (#3364, 3/29/2008)

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A black appearance with a beige head. The aroma was coffee and chocolate. The flavor was quite roasty with more chocolate and coffee showing through. The mouthfeel was a bit thin. The aftertaste was rather bitter. Overall this was a pretty good but not great stout.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown, nearly black pour, with a soapy, lasting head - aroma of caramelized sugars, charred wood, cocoa, some cream/vanilla - creamy mouthfeel - kind of bitter, and almost peppery up front, followed by notes of tobacco and coffee bean - sweetness arrives later in the form of caramel and sweet cream - hazelnut, chocolate, burnt sugars, light blueberry hints - warm alcohol and spiciness develops in the finish - a lot of charred leaf and vegetable qualities throughout that become a little off-putting - alright.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brownish color. Smell of coco, malt, minor caramel and roasted coffee. Taste of hops, chocolate malt, coffee and burnt sugar daddys. Smelled a little bit better than the taste, but this wasn’t a really good stout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cola brown in color with similar bubbles hugging the snifter. Aroma dances with dense fudge, mocha chips, frozen brownie chunks and a touch of maple like molasses. A sentiment of cocoa crusted sandpaper rings in the distance. Flavor yields a prominently abundant chocolate display, with semi-sweet morsels densely diffusing in the mouth. Dark chocolate mocha coolers and a hint of delicatessen tootsie rolls ride the tongue from front to back. The palate smack elicits a deepened, Godiva amaretto esque chocolate liquor flavor. Unique levels of carbonation distract the tongue while an authoritative mocha bitterness comes in for the kill. Burnt hazelnut fudge icing couples with a touch of dusty cocoa talc and chocolate malt custard to take the final bow.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured into snifter glass. Deep, rich brown, bordering on black. No carbonation apparent at the pour. Chocolate nose. First sip was of malt and dark, almost baker’s chocolate, but yet sweet. Very easy on the palate. Warming after it goes down.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber. Pours a very dark brown with not much of a head. The nose is of toast, nuts, toffee, brownies, and a bit of oats. The flavor has a heavy, semi-dry baking chocolate thing going on that is the first thing I notice but somehow doesn’t dominate the palate either. Some coconut flavor comes out along with cashews, musty basement, popcorn, and oatmeal. Okay, this is drinkable, but there is something weird going on.
