3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Toasted malt, chocolate. Creamy ten head over a dark black pour. Dark chocolate, raisin; slight sour late. A tad thin for a stout. Growler pour from Joe canals. They were out of founders breakfast stout again, argh. Beer had quite the kick. Maybe should be called imperial.

Bottle at Paul’s "Blind" imperial stout tasting. Pours black with a tan head. Nose and taste is almost all chocolate with a little roast. Some coffee notes. The chocolate becomes less impressive with each sip. First sip was a 3.8 and so on down from there. Medium body.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark chocolate, bitter hops on the nose. Tastes of smokey chocolate, some spice, sweet malts. Gets old kinda fast. By the end of the beer I was not tasting any of the favors anymore. Washed out my palate.

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours deep and dark with a tan head that leaves some sticky webs behind. The aroma is pretty nice with strong milk chocolate and charred grain notes. The taste starts with chocolate and finishes thin on the palatte with heavily toasted/burnt malt. No real complexity or ambition. It’s definitely missing something, and I poured the last third down the drain.

Beer smelled great. Upon tasting it had a burnt flavor that overpowered anything it was supposed to be. Drank 1/3 of a bottle and dumped the rest. Will use the rest for cooking. Very disapointed

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 12/21/12
Aroma: The nose is dark chocolate malts mostly, with some roasted notes and coffee
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with minimal head, and some spotty, off-white lace
Flavor: The taste is malty and roasty, with some lightly bitter chocolate and unsweetened coffee
Palate: The body is medium-plus, with a soft carbonation, a clean feel, and a dry roasted finish
This is a pretty solid one. It has mostly dark chocolate and un-sweet coffee flavors, and those flavors work pretty well. Good stuff, nothing world beating, but if you are in the mood for a solid dark chocolate/coffee stout this one does the job quite nicely.

Bomber Bottle from Champanes,
this beer had a dark brown pour and made a one finger light tan head that receded to a thin cover with a few open areas and ring at the edges of the glass, this beer left some spots and partial rings of lacing on the sides of the glass, I found no sediment in the bottle,
this drink had aromas of chocolate, milk chocolate, toasted and roasted malt and a hint of coffee, chocolate and molasses sweetness, the chocolate was out front in this beer,
it had flavors of chocolate, toasted and roasted malt, a little grainy, chocolate and molasses sweetness,
the finish did have some bitterness and it gave a nice balance to this brew,
the mouth feel was about medium or a touch less, some creaminess on the palate, and average carbonation,
the nose had a nice chocolate and sweetness with some roasted malt to give a balance to this brew, this beer was easy to drink,
I did not notice the 8.1% alc., this stout was a nice, smooth drink.

You could tell me this is an Impy and I’d believe you. Perhaps it made a difference that I tasted this from a large wine glass rather than pint glass or whatever.
