The most decadent creation ever to be crafted in FCB’s brewhouse. Deep roasty flavors, rich chocolate nose, coffee undertones and impeccable balance are the result of imperializing an already flawless brew.

The aroma is dark chocolate (like the really bitter high cacao percentage kind) and roast coffee. Black with a very small fading cream head. Bitter roast coffee flavors. Medium bodied with a bittersweet finish.

Chocolate and roasted malt certainly make for a tasty beer but it doesn’t rise above with the best of the style.

Pours a dark brown or black color. For the sake of the name, I’m going to call it a chocolate syrup color. Has about a one finger khaki tan head that doesn’t really linger. But the lacing does. I’m seeing weird bubbles floating on top.

Aroma is more of dark roasted malt than of anything else. The dark roasted malt is quite strong. I also detect some coffee and chocolate, although I can’t tell which one is stronger. After much smelling, I’m thinking the coffee shows up a bit more than the chocolate.

Tastes pretty heavy on coffee. I can taste the chocolate, but it shows up late. The dark roasted malt is really the star of this beer. It’s a shame, chocolate should be the star.

Mouthfeel is medium-full. It’s very smooth, and creamy. It finishes bitter, like espresso. The bitterness might be from hops, but I can’t tell. There’s just a bit of spiciness at the end.

Overall, it’s pretty good. I like it. I would drink it again. But with a name like double chocolate stout, and the deScription on the bottle, I was expecting much more chocolate. It’s sweet enough I guess, but not chocolatey. The high alcohol in this beer, is helpful. It’s certainly worth a try.

Pours black with a beige head. Taste is very sweet and deep with chocolates and malts, thin body. Aroma is thin though some chocolate can be noticed. Palate is a bit thin though not too thin. Overall a really pleasant beer though no blockbuster
