BCMike22 (79), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Mar 22, 2008 Poured into snifter glass. Deep, rich brown, bordering on black. No carbonation apparent at the pour. Chocolate nose. First sip was of malt and dark, almost baker’s chocolate, but yet sweet. Very easy on the palate. Warming after it goes down.
Petrucci914 (308), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 6, 2008 Thanks to the bro for sharing this one.
Pours black with a medium off-white head that quickly fades. Aroma is chocolate malts, light coffee, and cardboard. Taste is milk chocolate and slight dark roasts. Overall a fine stout that hides the alcohol well. Juelze (650), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours a rich black color with medium off-white head that fades quickly. Aroma is intense chocolate malt, cocoa powder, and light roasted coffee. Taste is rich milk chocolate, light coffee, and light roasted malt. Alcohol is well hidden, and the palate is full bodied with a light astringency. Overall, a solid stout. Thanks Ross! Dickinsonbeer (2457), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jul 3, 2008 Pours a deep dark brown- almost black with a soda-like big bubbly head, and slight lacing. Aroma is failry big in the chocolate, light roast some hints of coffee, nutty deep dark roasted chocolate- and a bit of hot cocoa powder mix. Flavor is pretty big with the chocolate malts as well- no artificial chocolates at all which is nice, light coffee, nutty roast, and some light burnt smokey malts. Finish is lightly bitter from the dark malts, and fairly smooth. oreogobbler (129), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 3, 2008 Pours completely dark brown, black. The rim is a creamy dark chocolate color with a thin off white head.
The aroma starts out with toms of alcohol burning my eyeballs. But it’s a strange situation, the alcohol aroma is being covered by a nice roasty chocolate and spice aroma which balances rather nicely.
The flavor is boozy, chocolate, and roasted malt, coriander, and cinnamon. I also get some hints of a tobacco in the aftertaste that is rather enjoyable. The Palate is a bit thick and syrupy. A tad bit overwhelming, though very creamy. slimchill (593), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 3, 2008 Bottle from TURDFERGUSON. Nice chocolate aroma with a light roastiness. Opaque black with a nice thick brown head that laces nicely. Flavor opens with chocolate sweetness and alcohol in good balance, roasty-bitter finish. Very vreamy palate. A really nice chocolate stout.
