3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 KajII (710) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - JAN 29, 2011Bottle. Poured black with a large light brown creamy head that was fully lasting and had excellent lacing. The aroma was of a burnt cereal malts, a mild does of resin hops and a sweet yeast with notes of dark chocolate, coffee and molasses. It tasted richly sweet and quite malty with a small hint of coffee to start then progressed into a bitter-sweet chocolate-coffee flavor at the finish. Mouthfeel was full in body and creamy in texture with a soft carbonation. Overall a quite satisfying chocolate stout.

12oz bottle pours a fairly viscous, opaque black with some off white head. Nose is what you’d expect, malt, chocolate, toast, caramel, brown sugar, nutty. Flavor is more milk chocolate, caramel, sweet, malt, light toast, light toasted almond. Full, dry finish.

Super duper dark roasted, burnt coffee flavor with some dark chocolate on the nose and palate. Roasty burnt coffee finish. Delightful.

This is easily the best beer I’ve tried from Fort Collins. Very sweet, but not cloying, rich and creamy. Dark with a great head.

Bottle. Pours black with 2 finger white head. Aroma is very sweet with chocolate and a lot of roasted malt. Roasted malt takes over in the taste with some brief coffee notes. Moderate heat from the alcohol. Mouthfeel is a little thin with a lively carb. Would have benefited from the chocolate being more apparent in the taste.

The aroma is dark chocolate (like the really bitter high cacao percentage kind) and roast coffee. Black with a very small fading cream head. Bitter roast coffee flavors. Medium bodied with a bittersweet finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 samsmith33 (195) - - JAN 22, 2013
Toasted malt, chocolate. Creamy ten head over a dark black pour. Dark chocolate, raisin; slight sour late. A tad thin for a stout. Growler pour from Joe canals. They were out of founders breakfast stout again, argh. Beer had quite the kick. Maybe should be called imperial.

Bottle at Paul’s "Blind" imperial stout tasting. Pours black with a tan head. Nose and taste is almost all chocolate with a little roast. Some coffee notes. The chocolate becomes less impressive with each sip. First sip was a 3.8 and so on down from there. Medium body.

Dark chocolate, bitter hops on the nose. Tastes of smokey chocolate, some spice, sweet malts. Gets old kinda fast. By the end of the beer I was not tasting any of the favors anymore. Washed out my palate.
