Bottle. Poured black with a large light brown creamy head that was fully lasting and had excellent lacing. The aroma was of a burnt cereal malts, a mild does of resin hops and a sweet yeast with notes of dark chocolate, coffee and molasses. It tasted richly sweet and quite malty with a small hint of coffee to start then progressed into a bitter-sweet chocolate-coffee flavor at the finish. Mouthfeel was full in body and creamy in texture with a soft carbonation. Overall a quite satisfying chocolate stout.

Boot black with short tan head. Audible carbonation. No lacing. Wet. Aroma alcohol, cocoa malt. Taste is roasted chocolate malt, coffee, alcohol. Slightly burnt coffee aftertaste. Flavorful but a bit thin.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, toast, nuttiness, light char, light raisin, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark, roast, and bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, toast, nuttiness, light char, light raisin, and roast/toasted earthiness. Fair amount of roast/coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roast, caramel, toffee, toast, nuttiness, light char/raisin, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice robustness and complexity of dark, roast, and bready malt flavors; with a nice malt bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial stout. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark, roast, and bready malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle (8.5% ABV per bottle) into Le Guinness Coupe du Monde 2010 - nose is wet toasted wheat bread. Sip adds coffee. I like the style but this particular example is not doing it for me; it’s too boring. As it warms I get more chocolate. dry.

Pours a dark brown with gold highlights, a good tan head with decent lacing. Aroma is roasted malt with coffee beans and some cocoa and chocolate. Taste is less chocolatey than expected with the roasted malt and dark coffee flavors being more prominent. There are some hints of chocolate but they are in the background. Also a sharp roasty bitterness that borders on tasting metallic, but doesn’t offend my palate. Finishes with mild coffee and bitterness. Mouthfeel is semi creamy with a medium body and low/medium carbonation. Solid and good tasting stout but is more balanced than expected, considering its name.

Old bottle in my parent’s fridge. Pour is dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is milk chocolate shake and light roasted malt. Flavor is really really true to.aroma. light milk chocolate and faint roasted malt. Not complicated. A little sweet and a little thin on the palate.
