What’s better on a warm day in the mountains (or at sea level, for that matter) than relaxing with a strong beer that drinks easy? Hoptitude has an aromatic orange rind nose courtesy of a late addition of Pacifica hops from New Zealand, a bready malt backbone, a refreshing hop flavor reminiscent of dry grapefruit, and a palate cleansing finish.

Pours a clear golden with a lot of carbonation and a big, white head that dissipates into a cap and leaves a lot of lacing. A bit of piney and citrusy notes on the nose, was not very strong. A bit stronger on the tongue, bitter with enough backbone to it. Easy guzzler, but doesn’t leave a lasting finish. Ok, but way overpriced.

12oz. Little into Le Listermann - is this a DIPA? Smells and looks like a golden ale. How could 44 people wrong was my thinking? Apparently some of them. The flavors are all over the hop spectrum.

Pours yellow-golld with a thick white head. Aroma is light syrup and light grains. Not much aroma. Taste is initially mild. Everything kicks in at the mid palate with some sweetness, then you finally get a heavy dose of hoppy bitterness and grainy malts in the finish.

Draft - Very light citrus hops. Pale gold with a thin white head. Sweet malts and light lemony hops. Nothing like I would expect. Very sweet and light.

From draft, fresh batch 2014. Sugary, greasy, oily, citric hops with some German noble mustiness, the nose is strangely vegetal and saccharine-like (rice cakes, sugar syrup smells, etc.)... very sharp / angular. While the nose is serviceable, flavor balance and mouth feel are deplorable: grape juice / grappa booziness with sharp pear, citrus pith, lemon soap flavors, all delivered by tooth-achingly sweet malt. A finish of astringent bitterness on top of cake frosting sugary sweetness makes it a fatiguing experience, and I can’t manage more than a couple of sips before fearing a headache in the morning. Certainly could use some cleaning up.

355ml bottle. Pours a light gold with a big white head. The smell is almost primarily malt, they msut have skipped the dry hopping. Flatish mouthfeel. Boozy for the abv, grains, fruits. Medium bitterness that is just out on an island. This beer is an absolute mess.

Very cloudy, which I like. Hop blend wasn’t very bitter, but extended to aftertaste. Multi flavors.

Tasted on tap. It has a hazy golden hue with a white head and streaky lacing. Pine hop aroma with a well hopped taste.

Pours yellow and hazy. Nose is stale malts spicy and floral hops with a weird laundry detergent aroma. Flavor is similar. Wish it would have been fresh but couldn’t find a date on the bottle.

Bottle. Cloudy gold almost no head. Pineapple and oxidized hops. Bit of butter. Medium body with zesty carbonation. A bit old but still has some bitterness with a lemony finish.
