the_federalist (198), Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA Jun 5, 2008 Updated: Aug 12, 2008 Bottle. Didn’t bother decanting, but from what I understand, the appearance is not amazing. Neither is the beer inside the bottle. Nose is clean, smells like beer. Flavor is not very distinguishable from any other beer. There might be a breath of wheat bite to this, but I can’t detect a single iota of pomegranate, be it flavor, tartness, or aroma. Not offensive, but dissapointing. No character whatsoever.
probstk (644), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Aug 12, 2008 12 fl. oz. bottle via Lubiere, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. July 2008.
App.: Clear golden with a small ring of white head.
Aroma: Lots of fruits with oranges, apples, other less assertive fruits (is that the pomegranate??), some maltiness, light honey.
Palate: Medium body and fairly soft carbonation.
Flav.: Light fruitiness, a bit of caramel and some graininess; slightly sweet, a touch tart and a touch bitter; light fruits on the finish.
I have no idea if this is pomegranate. Regardless, I didn’t love it. Trev (479), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Aug 9, 2008 Pours a pale gold with a medium bubbly white head.
Fruity aroma, a little light but certainly can get the pom. Light grainy malt under that.
Flavour starts well, crisp and tart but turns a bland middle before washing out in the finish with some lingering tartness. Not a lot of fruit coming through in the flavour.
Certainly different.
ross (1511), charlotte, North Carolina, USA Aug 8, 2008 Bottle from some time ago. I am not really sure why I bought all of these. I guess to mimic my friend, Daniel. Fortunately, I was half drunk when I drank this sweet fruity nasty beer. I am not sure I have ever eaten a pomegranate, but if it tastes like this beer, I don’t think I want to. Yellow color, no head, sweet funky smell coming from the glass. Taste is sweet and fruity, and somewhat refreshing. It could be a good wheat beer if they got rid of that nasty sweet whatever it is in it. Not my cup of tea (or beer) here, but at least it is just one more rating. Maybe they will brew this beer with 20 different fruits so that Sean can request more ratings. BlackDonald (1040), North Carolina, USA Jul 29, 2008 This was quite different and tangy. Doesnt really taste like pomegranate, but has more of a citrus fruit like acidity that is slightly sour and tart all at the same time, some cereal maltiness. Not a lot to it, but it is still refreshing. rader58 (30), Leawood, Kansas, USA Jul 22, 2008 clear yellow pour. Large white head that diminishes quickly. Lively mouthfeel. A sweet citrus wheat. Good on a summer day.
