COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A striking ruby hue and spicy floral nose punctuate the pleasant sweetness of this brew. Crystal malt coalesces with the earthy flavor of Willamette hops. A hauntingly beautiful combination.

Had on draft at Brew Kettle. Poured a nice amber red color. I am sorry, but the aroma on this one turned my stomach. Smelled like wet weeds by a pond. Very hoppy as well in the aroma. Tast was sweet and hoppy and grassy. Not bad, just blended slightly off...

Bottle. Poured a mostly clear amber color with a thick persistent white head. Aroma is pretty mild, with toasted malts and mild earthy hops. The flavor was bland, with the hop character being kind of weak and muddy on the finish. Pretty uneventful.

Had on tap. Pours a deep amber with a thick white head. Light hops on the nose with swwet malt. Taste is balanced. Finish is refreshing, slightly dry. Enjoyable.

Substantial malt aroma and sweet malt taste. Interesting copper color with no lacing on pour. This is a stronger beer than I anticipated. Hops are present and then bam so is the malt. Neither overpowers the other though. Not a beer that quenches the thirst or satisfies like other reds however. Mouth is heavy, sandpapery and too malty after finishing, not refreshed. I know not to expect a witbier or hoegaarden here but other amber ales have proved more relaxing. Decent experience but will not buy again.

From bottle. Mild papery hops, light cardboard and a medium metallic nose to this one. Very little maltiness, just a dusty mild grainy note. Deep dark brown with quite a dark redness to it, clear with mild haze, topped with thin foamy off-white head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Starts with a mild chocolatey-Tootsie Roll quality that dissipates quickly under a siege of mushy parsnips rolled in wet cardboard. Mild nutty bitterness and papery old hops roll in to finish the job, leaving an odd tang and chalky bitterness on the tongue. Bit of caramel hidden in there, too. Haven’t had anything quite this poor in a while, and reminds me of some of the bland ambreés I tried from Bretagne.

This is a nice looking brew with a pleasant sweet malt aroma. Flavor is roasted nuts with coffee and a hop bite. A unique aspect is that both the malt and the hops are of the strong variety but balance each other very well. Balance is key with this kind of beer and consistency can be elusive. I found this beer to be unique, interesting, flavorful, and enjoyable.

I got this from HyVee W and S in Cedar Falls and I was very surprised to see it was retired. It makes me wish I would’ve rated the Sam Adams triplebock. Appears to be very dark in ruby color with a little head and a lacing that sticks very well. I smell a nutty coffeeness, but not much of it. Taste is dark coffee malts with a very slight dark fruit in the nose. Mouthfeel is pretty nice, like a slightly creamy water. I was glad to try it, but if it was fresh that would’ve been nice too.

Reddish brown with a small off white head. Fresh wheaty and slightly caramel aroma. Pleasant balanced amber flavor. unremarkable finish. an above average amber.

12 ounce bottle. Dark red, working on brown. Off white head. Smells like a can of fresh peanuts. Same sort of nutty flavor with a touch of toffee and roast. Hops a earthy. Plenty bitter. Medium body. High carbonation. Roasted dry finish. Not a bad little beer.

aroma is nil. Color is deep dark reddish brown. flavor is slighty sweet. nutty and a little caramel. Very good. Finishes easy and dark. A smooth drinking beer. Fort Collins is an impressive brewery. I think I have three others in the fridge to try tonight.
